We have officially finished week six. This week we had a visit from an old ETAS student, Kyah Shine, who is now stationed in California and spoke to the students about life after high school, worked on our upcycling projects, went to Elyria Arts Council and finished the week at Playhouse Square watching the Lion King. Another great week. We can’t believe there are only two weeks left.

What??? You can’t wait to hear what ETAS is up to? Well let me tell you. This was our fourth week and we are nowhere close to slowing down. Monday we explored a different culture by learning about Mediterranean food and culture. A special thank you to Pita Way of Elyria for donating dinner. Most of the teens had never had Mediterranean food before. For team building we played reverse charades and we had team trivia competitions. We had Buckeye Financial come in and talk to us about fraud and our digital footprints and how to protect ourselves from scammers. Stem Sally from OSU extension came in and talked about sustainability and recycling and we started creating recycled carnival games. We finished off the week doing what everyone wants to do on a hot day at Splash Zone in Oberlin. It was a great week but next week is going be to be even better. Week 2 Complete for our Level Up Summer Program. This week we had Guy Chat and Girls Chat. Mr. Mark talked to the guys about what it means to be a man. The young ladies talked about seeing their beauty and not allowing social media to decide what that is. We made solar ovens out of pizza boxes and made S’mores in them. We started our upcycling plans. We did several team building activities and ended the week bowling in Oberlin. Ms. Tiana led out in show and tell, which was a great way for us to learn more about each other. It was a busy and very productive week. Have a great 4th of July. We will be back next week.

First week of the summer program. This summer our theme is ‘LEVEL UP’. We have 18 new teens and we are excited. This week was spent bonding and completing team building. Our word for the week was Teamwork. We played games, ate, talked, planned and laughed together. We also talked about the importance of communications by doing a Lego challenge. We can’t wait to see what the summer has in store. ETAS is building future leaders.
