Thank you Legacies Empowered

At ETAS this week: we discussed Who Am I? And how do others see me? We talked about how we don’t have to wear the labels others have put on us and we will not other people’s opinions define who we are. We chose to be unmasked and embrace the beauty and positivity in each of us. We also had Charde’ Hollins from Legacies Empowered instruct our students in Mental Health First Aid. We are taking our teens to the next level.

We have completed our first two weeks of the afterschool program. We have been busy. “Doing what?” You ask. Well let me show you . . . The human knot, guided drawings, pancake bar, apple dipping, bonding, conversations and building healthy relationships. We are just getting started.

Week 6 has been completed. Can’t believe we only have one week to go. This week included working on our upcycling projects with STEM Sally, making homemade ice cream, Saran Wrap ball game and fun and games at Main Event.

We have officially finished week six. This week we had a visit from an old ETAS student, Kyah Shine, who is now stationed in California and spoke to the students about life after high school, worked on our upcycling projects, went to Elyria Arts Council and finished the week at Playhouse Square watching the Lion King. Another great week. We can’t believe there are only two weeks left.

What??? You can’t wait to hear what ETAS is up to? Well let me tell you. This was our fourth week and we are nowhere close to slowing down. Monday we explored a different culture by learning about Mediterranean food and culture. A special thank you to Pita Way of Elyria for donating dinner. Most of the teens had never had Mediterranean food before. For team building we played reverse charades and we had team trivia competitions. We had Buckeye Financial come in and talk to us about fraud and our digital footprints and how to protect ourselves from scammers. Stem Sally from OSU extension came in and talked about sustainability and recycling and we started creating recycled carnival games. We finished off the week doing what everyone wants to do on a hot day at Splash Zone in Oberlin. It was a great week but next week is going be to be even better. See you next week this time to share the fun.
