Mission: To teach athletes of all skill levels how to play the game of baseball while demonstrating God’s Love in teaching and shaping the next generation of leaders. Ages: Students Entering grades 7th-9th (2016-2017 school year)
Who: Athletes from any community are welcome to join, learn, and achieve. The more players we have, the more teams that will be created. All teams will have continual in
struction from the Open Door Coaching staff throughout the season. When: Tuesdays, Fridays (Night Games under the lights), Saturdays with games starting in Mid May and concluding in early July. Each team will play 2 games per week (on either TUES/FRI/SAT) Practices will begin on Saturdays in late April. Description: We are seeking players who want to learn and improve at the game of baseball in a positive, highly structured environment. Our goal is to play baseball at a very high-level by teaching athletes all facets of the game. Time will be provided for continual instruction throughout the season with weekly skill development prior to each game played in the summer. Players will be instructed and coached by the Open Door Varsity and Junior Varsity staff alongside volunteer parents and high school players. Field: We will be utilizing the fields at Open Door Christian Schools. All games will be played at 8287 West Ridge Road, Elyria. The varsity field located at Open Door is one of the nicest fields in the area and will be maintained by the Open Door Varsity Baseball team so that each game will be played on a top notch diamond. The size of the field is adjustable, we will have the field match the ability of the players ranging from 70 ft to 90 ft bases, and 50 ft – 60 ft 6 inch pitching mound.
*We will also be using Trinity Field in Amherst for Friday Night Games under the lights! Rules: We utilize High School Rules, with free substitution and continuous batting order. Cost: Is to be fully determined, but should be around/under $100.
