Women's Fund

Women's Fund The Women’s Fund invests in opportunities and equality to empower the women and children of Lorain County through education, grantmaking, and philanthropy.

Our Change the Cycle initiative is working to combat period poverty in Lorain County. In 2021, the Women’s Fund launched Change the Cycle, a concerted effort to solve period poverty or the lack of access to affordable menstrual products. Volunteers are needed to host Period Product Supply Drives throughout Lorain County at workplaces, schools, libraries, churches, or through civic organizations su

ch as Girl Scout troops or sports teams. Once collected, products will be distributed to individuals, local non-profit organizations, and schools through a partnership with the United Way of Greater Lorain County. Additionally, any monies raised will help purchase supplies in bulk for pennies on the dollar.

We’re proud to offer scholarships for Lorain County women who have demonstrated a passion for serving their schools and communities. These scholarships provide vital financial support to help post-secondary students pursue their education and reach their full potential.

Established in 2021, our fund has already awarded four annual $1,000 scholarships, and we’re just getting started in empowering the next generation of women leaders right here in Lorain County.

A heartfelt congratulations to Clare Cygan Young, who was recognized as a Supporter of the Women's Fund Shero Award. Clare is the founding mother of the Women’s Fund, establishing its first endowment that has awarded over $5,000 in grants since its inception.

With a decade of experience as a nurse, Clare went on to work at the Cleveland R**e Crisis Center and The Nord Center, ultimately founding the Kidz First Child Advocacy Center in 2004. Her extensive background in community outreach, crisis intervention, and advocacy has made a profound impact on raising awareness and prevention of sexual violence, solidifying her dedication to empowering and supporting individuals in need.

We are proud to honor Clare’s tireless commitment to advocacy and empowerment. Her vision and leadership continue to inspire us all to build a stronger, more supportive community for women and girls of Lorain County.
