Thank you Village Project for being there for Mike and his family in their time of need. We are proud to support such a great local organization that provides meals and comfort to cancer patients and their families!

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month and The Mike Bird Fund announced its $12,000.00 charitable donation to Village Project on Thursday, September 10, 2026!

The Mike Bird Fund is pleased to announce its charitable donations for 2026 which total $38,000. The money is raised primarily through the Fund's annual golf outing, The Mike Bird Classic, held in late August of each year at Bob-O-Link in Avon. The Fund is also aided by additional donations called Cash for the Cause. The charitable donations are released in September in honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness month.

The Mike Bird Fund was formed in 2021 to honor the memory of Mike Bird who died in 2020 after a courageous battle with Stage IV prostate cancer. The Fund's motto is "Fighting Back at Cancer." It is intended that the donations will aid other families and support cancer research while also raising awareness of the devastating effects of prostate cancer. The Fund's donations support the Village Project in Bay Village, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Prostate Cancer Foundation. These donations have now reached a total of $188,000 over the six-year history of the Fund.

The Mike Bird Classic has sold out its available golf spots for all six years. The extensive group of volunteers are all from Lorain County, and the Golf Committee and the Fund's Board are extremely grateful to all who participate in any way to help support our Cause!

Just over six years ago, we lost Mike way too soon. But we are grateful that so many have chosen to honor his memory through The Mike Bird Fund and the work we're doing to Fight Back at Cancer.

Thanks to your abundant support, we will be donating a total of $38,000 to our charitable causes this year!
