The Forest Service is considering whether or not to grant permits for an expansion of the Lutsen Ski Resort in the Superior National Forest of Northeastern Minnesota. Northeastern Minnesotans for Wilderness is opposed to this expansion. The proposed expansion would negatively impact the environment, limit public land access, and violate the rights of the Grand Portage band of Lake Superior Chippewa under the 1854 Treaty. Working with our allies at WaterLegacy, Winter Wildlands Alliance, and Superior Highlands Backcountry, we developed and submitted comments to the Forest Service urging them to reject the proposed expansion.
