Thank you to Saguaro National Park for hosting the panel discussion regarding accessibility in the parks. It's exciting to hear about the trail access improvements at the park and the collaborations in the community to make sure our parks are ready for all to enjoy! The adaptive trail wheelchairs are super neat!

Accessibility, awareness and education are vital and we need to make sure we are thinking like this all of the time as we build a community that works for all of us.

What better place to have this discussion than at the beautiful Sosa-Carrillo House!

Thank you Congresswoman Grijalva for standing strong for our tribal communities and sacred sites as well as our tribal students during today's House Committee on Natural Resources hearing " Examining the President's FY 2027 Budget Request for the Department of the Interior."

Secretary Burgum’s Department of Interior has spent the past year attacking America’s parks and public lands, firing park rangers en masse, rolling back protections for outdoor spaces, and opening lands for industrial development.

Congress must reject the budget proposal and protect the funding needed to conserve and maintain public lands.

Mamas are grateful to have protectors of the environment in Congress who introduce bills such as the Public Lands Integrity Act.

We will always be a strong voice to make sure our public lands are not sold off. These spaces are for our families to enjoy, connect with each other and mother earth, to support our local economies, and most importantly to preserve the rich history that will be here long after we are gone.

Thank you Senator Bennet!

DOGE impacts have strained our public lands workforce. Arizona ranked in the top 10 for public lands job losses in 2025. Employment of Arizona residents dropped by 679 jobs in 2025.

23% of reductions in Arizona targeted junior and probationary employees. Newly hired as a federal employees to be the face that we all count on when we walk in with our families at the visitor center, the folks in operations, and emergency operations . They are essential to keeping us safe and making sure that we can enjoy our public lands for years to come.

Across six western states, nearly 6,000 federal public lands jobs were lost in 2025.

We simply can't take any more hits.

Mountain Mamas was impressed by the presentations from University of Arizona students from the Design Arts & Practices Interdisciplinary Design Studio.

The students designed “speculative monuments” for El Pueblo Center in its next 50 years as a community hub.

The themes included Arts & Murals, Environmental Justice, Intergenerational Community, Public Parks & Shade, and Transportation & Access. Thehe projects build upon narratives uncovered through El Pueblo 50: Celebrating the Living Heart of the Southside.
