Mark your calendars for October 3rd from 11 AM–4 PM and come enjoy a fun-filled day with family and friends at the A-O Fire Station! 🎃🍁

We’ll also have a bounce house, vendors, games, raffle prizes, hot dog lunch available for purchase, hayrides, touch-a-truck, Sol’s Creations flavored lemonade, and lots, lots more! 🍋🎟️🚜

Well whoever prayed for summer, you can stop now. We got it. ☀️

It’s so hot:

🥵 The fish are asking for ice.
🥵 The cows are giving evaporated milk.
🥵 The mosquitoes are carrying tiny bottles of Gatorade.
🍳I know atleast one of yall is trying to cook an egg outside
🫖and Grandma is telling you how to make sun tea

Before somebody says, “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity,” We KNOW. It’s both. They’re working together.

A few reminders from your neighborhood fire department:
💧 Drink water. Coffee, sweet tea, and Mountain Dew don’t count… no matter what Uncle Larry says.
🌳 Take breaks in the shade.
🚗 Don’t leave kids, pets, or your spouse in the car. (The spouse part is mostly a joke… mostly.)
🔥 Skip the unnecessary outdoor burning. It’s hot enough already.
👵 Check on your older neighbors. If they’re sitting on the porch saying, “I’ve never seen it this hot,” they’re probably telling the truth this time.

Stay cool, y’all. We like waving at you from the fire truck a whole lot more than meeting you because you passed out trying to mow the yard at 2:00 in the afternoon.

We had a special guest stop by fire training tonight! 🐻🚒

A bear wandered up to the station and decided to check out what we were up to. We’re pretty sure it was Smokey Bear making sure everyone was taking fire safety seriously.

After a brief inspection, Smokey moved on without any complaints. We’d say training was a success!

Remember: It’s a little dry out there, so use caution when burning. 🔥

The burn ban will be officially lifted tomorrow at 8am
Please use your newfound freedom responsibly.

This means:
✅ You may burn brush.
❌ You may not attempt to recreate the Great Chicago Fire in Alamance County.
❌ You may not “just see what happens” if you throw old gasoline or diesel on it. (Gas prices are too high to be doing that anyways)
❌ Your cousin yelling “hold my beer” is still not an approved ignition source.

Tonight we got the chance to say a small but heartfelt “thank you” to the men and women who show up when everyone else is running the other way and to the families who quietly hold everything together behind the scenes.

Being a firefighter doesn’t clock out at the end of a shift. It’s missed dinners, interrupted sleep, and plans that change the second the tones drop. And for their families, it’s a life of flexibility, patience, and a whole lot of grace.

So tonight’s supper is just a small token of appreciation. We know one meal can’t repay the long hours, the sacrifice, or the courage but it can at least give you a chance to sit down, take a breath, and enjoy a hot plate that you didn’t have to eat standing up or out of a gas station wrapper.

To our firefighters: we are grateful for you.
To your families: we are grateful for you too, more than you probably hear.

A huge thank you to texasroadhouse for providing the rolls and salad for our fire family tonight, and to all the members of the auxiliary who came together to make this possible!

Although the North Carolina Forestry Service has lifted the burn ban for parts of the State, Alamance County is NOT one of them.

The Burn Ban is still in effect until further notice for Alamance County.
