In the rapidly converging world of communications, Elon University's M.A. in Interactive Media prepares students to think strategically across media platforms. Delivered on campus in a state-of-the-art environment, this intensive 10-month, full-time graduate program includes hands-on production and theoretical courses coupled with a project for the public good, where students travel internationally each January.

Earlier this week the cohort wrapped up their 1st week of training with Professors Brian Walsh (coding) and Brandon Booker (production technique). They’re currently diving into UX and UI principles with Dr. Pratheep Paranthaman as well as Visual Communication and Design with Professor Phillip Motley.

Ahead for the cohort is bootcamp: across full-time workdays and with multiple instructors, students are quickly brought up to speed with the principles, tools and technologies needed for success in the program. We’re delighted to see another alum take their talents to higher education. Hear from John about what a degree in interactive media did for him:

“ The iMedia program taught me how to use specific programs and technology and how to approach using resources. This allows me to be effective with current technology and will help me to excel in using future technologies.
Prior to beginning the program, I was unsure where I would eventually implement my skills, so I took the time to absorb all topics. Now in my role as Regional Admission Officer for Hampden-Sydney College, I am utilizing many of the skills and experiences I had in the iMedia program to ensure the success of my office. "

The iMedia Class of 2023 knew that campus was missing them, so they decided to send in a steady stream of accolades in their place. 🤩
Courtney Simmons’ application prototype, “The C-Word” named her a Black Ambition Prize Semifinalist for the 2023 Competition. The Black Ambition network describes the semifinalists as:

“…visionary founders [who] possess the power to transform industries, create opportunities, and shape a more equitable future.”

Kudos, Courtney. 🎉

The iMedia capstone curriculum allowed Courtney to create The C-Word: an interactive app prototype that allows peer support for Black Women living with breast cancer.

Today we introduce another iMedia award winner from the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication’s “Best of Digital” competition (you thought we were finished😉).
Cheers to Abby Lachance for placing 2nd in Category 4 for her application: Sport Creative Hub. As part of her graduate thesis, Abby took several months to create production and design elements that allows a platform for sport creatives, sport agents and sports fans.
