Altamahaw - Ossipee Fire Department Non-Profit Organization We are located in the North-Western part of Alamance County, North Carolina.

Our fire department is incorporated and organized under the laws of the State of North Carolina as a non-profit corporation. The primary purpose of the corporation is to afford fire protection to the community, including the portion of Guilford County joining the Altamahaw-Ossipee School District. The secondary purpose is to aid, assist and cooperate with any and all organizations, private or publ

ic, in promoting safety to property and protection of lives. The Altamahaw-Ossipee Fire Department is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c ) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Just a reminder the State wide burn ban is in effect. After 6:00 p.m. this evening there will be no warning tickets it will be a citation written so don't get caught burning. Please share this so we can get the word out.

The Altamahaw - Ossipee Fire Department will be hosting the 2026-2027 public budget meeting. This meeting is open to all residents of the A-O Fire district. The meeting will be held on April 20th @ 7pm. The meeting will be at the A-O Fire Department located at 2806 Old 87 Elon NC 27244. The meeting will allow residents of the A-O Fire district to review and ask any questions about the departments 2026-2027 budget.

Just want to remind everybody if the power goes out and you're powering things with a generator make sure that you have proper clearance from your house to the generator. Running a generator close to your house or in a garage can lead to carbon monoxide buildup which is a silent killer. Be sure that you have a working carbon monoxide detector in your residence. Even stand by generators that are professionally installed, we have had instances where carbon monoxide was getting into the house at lethal levels. If you feel a headache flushing of the skin or any other signs of carbon monoxide poisoning please call 911 as carbon monoxide poisoning can be lethal in minutes.

Big improvements happening to our parking lot. If you come by the station please use the back parking lot for the next few weeks as we are having work done to the front parking lot.

The business office of the fire depatment has been relocated to the upstairs, if you need to stop by for anything please park at the community building and come through the glass doors during the hours of 8am-5pm any other time come to the lower side door. The new phone system has also gone live, be sure to listen to the menu and remember if it is a call for medical or fire assistance dial 911.
