We’re thrilled to announce that GHHN has been awarded $297,257 from the National Park Service’s Save America’s Treasures program to conserve 12 nationally significant objects at eight small and mid-size museums across New York State.

From a rare Tiffany stained-glass window and a mourning flag created in response to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination to John Burroughs’ personal satchel, a Revolutionary War campaign trunk, and the original documents tracing the early history of Jell-O, these objects tell remarkable stories about our state and our nation.

This project will help ensure these irreplaceable pieces of American history are preserved for future generations. Through conservation and educational workshops, participating museums will also gain valuable resources and knowledge to care for their collections.

Take a closer look at the objects being conserved through this project!

This morning, we wrapped up the Revolutionary Roundtables series with Pop-Up Exhibits & Public Engagement at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site in Yonkers.

Throughout the series, we’ve been thinking about how museums can experiment, question familiar approaches, and create meaningful experiences for visitors and today was a fitting way to bring it all together. Participants explored how interpretation can move beyond traditional gallery spaces, considered new ways to engage audiences in unexpected places, and experimented with a hands-on prototyping activity.

A huge thank you to our friends at Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site for hosting us today, and to everyone who participated in one (or many) of these workshops. Your willingness to try things and share ideas is what made this series so much fun.

And, as always, we’re grateful to the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area/Hudson River Valley Greenway for supporting this series and helping make these conversations possible!

What would you try if you weren't afraid of failure? What changes have you been putting off? What happens when your job description keeps expanding - but your salary does not?

These aren't hypothetical questions. They're just a few of the real-world challenges we'll be exploring at GHHN's 2026 Annual Conference.

Join colleagues from across the cultural heritage field for candid conversations about taking risks, navigating change, and figuring out how to make things work with the resources we have.

Swipe through for a preview of some of what we'll be talking about during our Follow the Speaker sessions, featuring presentations from Three Village Historical Society, Historic Hudson Valley, and Seneca Falls Historical Society.

And that's just the beginning! The day also includes many opportunities to connect with grant funders and colleagues, an exhibit hall, exploration of our host site, the Hudson River Museum, and our Awards for Excellence celebration.

What happens when things don't go as planned?

Your museum suddenly goes viral. You arrive at work to discover there's been a break-in. Millions in anticipated federal funding are suddenly jeopardized.

These aren't hypothetical scenarios. They're just a few of the real-world challenges we'll be exploring at GHHN's 2026 Annual Conference.

Join colleagues from across the cultural heritage field for candid conversations about navigating uncertainty, responding to unexpected challenges, and figuring out what comes next.

Swipe through for a preview of some of what we'll be talking about during our Follow the Speaker sessions, featuring presentations from Boscobel House and Gardens, the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame, and Underground Railroad Education Center.

And that's just the beginning! The day also includes many opportunities to connect with grant funders and colleagues, an exhibit hall, exploration of our host site - the Hudson River Museum, and our Awards for Excellence celebration.
