Steven Mark Piatt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 22, 1956, in Hornell, New York, Steve was the son of James and Edith Piatt. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard and carried the values of service, integrity, and hard work throughout his life. Steve shared 34 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Mercedes Piatt. Together they built a family rooted in love, faith, and unwavering support for one another. He was a devoted father to his son, Jason Piatt and his wife, Thanh Pham; his daughter, Amanda Brown and her husband, Astin Brown, and their sons, Andrés and Adriàn Brown; and his daughter, Lisa O’Dell and her husband, Chris O’Dell, and their children, Milo Oliverio and Payten and Carter O’Dell. Steve cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and were the pride of his life. Steve is also survived by his siblings: Catherine (Dan) Baschmann, Sue Acciari, James (Colleen) Piatt, David (Jenni) Piatt, Robert (Anna Marie) Piatt, and Bill (Suzanne) Piatt. He was dearly loved by his many nieces and nephews, who will remember his kindness, strength, and sense of humor. Above all, Steve was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord and lived his life guided by Christian values. His faith was evident in the way he loved his family, treated others with compassion, and faced life’s challenges with courage and grace. He was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and leading by example. Steve’s legacy is one of unwavering love, steadfast faith, and selfless devotion to those he held dear. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23 A Memorial Service will be held for Steven on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:00 am at Caton Bible Chapel, 11297 Old County Rd., Corning, NY 14830.
