Big news: Queens Together has partnered with the Mayor’s Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) to create human trafficking awareness posters and distribute them to businesses across NYC.

The posters help staff and the public recognize the signs of human trafficking — and connect victims to help: nyc.gov/fjc for a Family Justice Center, 1-800-621-HOPE (4673) to speak with an advocate 24/7, or 911 in an emergency. Available in multiple languages, including Spanish.

If you’re a small business, help us get these posters up in your establishment — in public spaces, break rooms, restrooms, or staff entrances. It’s a simple step that can help someone find a way out.

Last night, in Times Square, there was a candlelight vigil honoring the memory of Pawo Lobga Rangzen, who was serving as President of the Tibetan National Congress at the time of his ultimate sacrifice. Lobga self immolated for Tibet’s Independence. He called for International attention to the cause of Tibet in his final message. He did this final act outside the United Nations Headquarters one day after China’s new “Ethnic Unity Law” took effect.

Queens Together attended the vigil and stood in peaceful protest with our Tibetan friends and neighbors, New Yorkers, and leaders of resistance from Hong Kong, South Mongolia, and the Uyghur community.

“Lobga was a tireless advocate for Tibet who devoted himself to peacefully raising awareness of the human rights crisis and independence of Tibet and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to justice and the Tibetan cause,” said ICT President Tencho Gyatso.

The Dalai Lama famously said, “My religion is kindness.” I heard this for the first time last night and it resonated with me.

Queens Together is taking over Kitchen79 for a Friends Networking Event. Bring your buddies, better halves, mates, and coworkers. The place is ours for the evening. Expect some QT merch giveaways and maybe a raffle.

There’s a new bar menu with special prices: Beer $6, Wine $9, Cocktails $10. The regular dinner menu will be available all evening.

Today, Queens Together hosted a meeting with NYC Comptroller Mark Levine and some of our restaurant partners. We discussed issues with Con Edison, commercial rents, outdoor dining, liability insurance, sanitation, street safety, DOT, and more.

Small business is the backbone of our city and we need to be heard. Queens together thanks the Comptroller for listening and spending time with us. Shout out to Lester, Peter, and the team at Elm Roastery for providing a meeting space.
