In April we met veteran Chris Locher, a Navy SWO who transitioned to the IT field after his military career was cut short due to an injury, on a spoonbill snagging adventure and he mentioned he could help us with some of the hurdles we were dealing with on our website. Fast forward 4 months later and we are excited to announce that with Chris' help, we are launching a new & improved website, https://b4outdoors.com/

The new website has been designed and edited to make it super easy to help us meet our mission of serving those who serve us through transformative outdoor adventures for veterans, 1st responders, law enforcement officers, and their families. The main function of the site funnels you into two avenues of discovery - one if you're looking to attend an adventure and one if you're looking to support an adventure.

If you're a veteran, 1st responder, law enforcement officer, or a family member of the aforementioned, the path to finding our transformative outdoor adventures and applying for said adventures is 1 click away from the homepage unlike before when it took multiple clicks and back buttons to complete the application process. And if you're just looking to help us provide those adventures as a donor and/or sponsor, doing so is also 1 click away. We have multiple ways for a donor to support our mission monetarily as well as a contact form to send us a message if you want to donate a hunt or volunteer.

With all these changes made with you in mind, we still have pages dedicated to pictures of our adventures, our media appearances (podcasts, magazine articles, etc), our merch vendor, our fundraisers, and more for you to see what B4 is all about.

We'd be remiss if we didn't extend our gratitude to Chris for all his help. Without him none of this would be possible. We also would welcome your feedback concerning the new site and it's functionality, and hope the redesign improves your experience when visiting our site.

For the 7th consecutive hunting season, B4 will be hosting their annual antlerless deer hunt at The Colonel's Cabin the weekend of Oct 8-11. This year we have partnered with the Kniestedt Foundation, whose mission statement parallels that of B4's, to give 4 of their veteran members an opportunity to experience a hunt with B4.

Veterans Win Hill, Keith Hickman, Mark Ernst, and Mike Gimmarro will be treated to 3 days of hunting during the Missouri antlerless r***e weekend and will be offered the opportunity to fill 2 doe tags. Win, who is originally from South Carolina and is married with 3 sons, is an Army veteran of 8 years with 2 deployments as an infantryman. Meanwhile, Keith and Mark are both Marine veterans. Keith, a resident of Missouri is also married and has 4 kids and 6 grandkids, was an infantryman as well and spent 4 years in the Corps. Mark, who had 2 deployments to Iraq during his 4 years as a Marine, is a father of two and is happily married. And last but certainly not least is Mike, who spent 10 years in the Air Force and spends his time coaching his kids, and hunting and fishing.

We are excited to be partnering with the Kniestedt Foundation and giving these four veterans an opportunity to also become members of the B4 family. We are in a special position as an organization to have our own lodge and farms to hunt, so we love to share it with like-minded organizations. Many other organizations have to rely on outfitters, guides, and landowners to host hunts so when we can help another organization meet it's mission, we are happy to open the doors to The Colonel's Cabin.

The Kniestedt Foundation was formed by former Army Special Forces Green Beret James Kniestedt and is directed by Joe Rhodes who handles the daily operations. Joe and Kevin, who share the same last name but aren't related, met at a networking event several years ago at the Vortex Headquarters in Wisconsin. A special thanks to HHAUSA's Chris Ham for the introduction as Kevin and Joe have not only for teamed up for this event but also to fight some of the tougher issues veterans face at the local, regional, and national level.

For the 3rd weekend in a row we crossed another major project off the list of things to do as we prep for deer season 2026. With the help of U.S. Air Force veteran and B4 alum Ted Fest, we installed a new atv bridge behind the Colonel's Cabin on Saturday morning. The new bridge gives us a new access point as well as a place to cross the creek with the tractor in order to brush hog trails and do other tractor work on the southern portion of the farm.

Again we are blessed with volunteers like Ted who continue to answer the call when we need help. We can not continue to "serve those who serve us" without the help of our amazing volunteers.

The last 2 weekends have been a blur at B4 Outdoors HQ trying to get everything prepped for deer season 2026, our 9th season since our founding in January of 2018!

Two weekends ago B4 Outdoors Outreach Team member TJ Gruer, who also leads our paddlefish snagging adventures, came up to the Colonel's Cabin to help do safety checks on all of our stands and to trim shooting lanes. It was a long day that started at 6am but all 40-plus stands were checked and are ready for hunters!

Then this past Saturday, B4 alumni member Lew Tartt pitched in to help clean and prep all the current box blinds for this year's hunters and he also helped put the finishing touches on the "Dahl House," our mobile box blind. After a crew of BOOT members helped build the Dahl House earlier this summer, Lew and B4 President Kevin Rhodes put a coat of paint on it to seal it and protect it from the elements. The mobile box blind is named in honor of Army veteran David Dahl, who donated the funds for the materials used in the construction of the blind!

With one more big work weekend ahead this Saturday, we will just about be ready for Deer Season 2026! A special thanks to TJ and Lew, along with everyone else who chips in along the way, for all their hardwork and for paying it forward to the next set of deserving veterans, 1st responders, and law enforcement officers.

Several B4 team members got out on the water over the weekend and saw some awesome action. B4 Outdoors Outreach Team (BOOT) members Drew Happel, who is a former law enforcement officer, and John Kranawetter, who served in the Army during GWOT, along with Drew's neighbor Cory, joined up with fellow Boot member Parker LaRue in Arkansas for 2 nights of bowfishing on a trip Drew won earlier this year!

On Saturday night, new B4 board member Chris Locher joined up with some fellow vets on a gator hunt sponsored by Florida Fish & Game. Chris, who spent time in the Navy, hauled in a 9ft 300lb gator all while repping his B4 t-shirt!

Even though deer season still hasn't opened in most states, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors!
