It’s that time of year again folks, our noxious w**d dumpster is arriving tomorrow at our office and will be available through September.

Last year we worked together to remove over 9,000 pounds of noxious w**ds, specifically 9080 pounds, from the county, and we’re looking to beat that number!

This year we are incentivizing members of the community to utilize the dumpster by offering two hour noxious w**d removal efforts in the Spring of 2027. Three randomly selected residents of the county who contribute to the dumpster will be selected for the prize via a raffle if we are able to beat last year’s weight.

How it works is when you arrive to drop off your noxious w**ds, we will collect your information and add it to the pool of candidates for the incentive. One entry is permitted into the raffle per household.

Once dumpster season is over, we will crunch the numbers to calculate the total weight of noxious w**ds removed for the season. If the weight exceeds 9,080 pounds then we will randomly select and announce our three winners live on Facebook.

Let’s work together to control noxious w**ds in our community!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! This one is especially for all the plant moms—we see you working hard to care for your gardens just like Mother Nature.

You water, you prune, and keep things thriving. But invasive species? They’re the uninvited guests that undo all your hard work. From root-destroying grubs to leaf-skeletonizing beetles, these pests can take down even the most well-loved garden.

Here are some tips to protect mom’s plants:

• Inspect new plants for signs of pests before bringing them home

• Following local quarantine guidelines (check state and county noxious w**d boards for details)

• Report anything unusual with the WA Invasives app or online form: https://invasivespecies.wa.gov/report-a-sighting/

The best Mother’s Day gift is one where mom’s hard work is left alone . . . of course, mom might like to be left alone too. Or with a book. And maybe some dessert.
