πŸ΄πŸ“£ ADULT RIDERS NEEDED! πŸ“£πŸ΄

The Grays Harbor 4-H Equine Program is looking for 4 to 8 adult riders and their horses to help with an upcoming judging clinic and equine judging competition.

This is a great opportunity to support our youth as they develop and practice their horse judging skills!

We Need:
πŸ”Ή 4 Adult Riders to participate in:
β€’ Western Pleasure/Stock Seat Equitation (simple pattern)
πŸ”Ή 4 Adult Riders to participate in:
β€’ Hunt Seat Equitation/ Hunt Seat Pleasure

4 Adult Riders to participate in:
β€’ a halter class

The same riders may participate in both Western and Hunt Seat classes if they are able, or we can use additional riders.

Event #1 – Judging Clinic
πŸ“… Friday, July 10, 2026
⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
πŸ“ Outdoor Arena, Grays Harbor Fairgrounds

Event #2 – Equine Judging Competition
πŸ“… Tuesday, July 28, 2026
⏰ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
πŸ“ Grays Harbor Indoor Arena

By providing youth with the opportunity to judge experienced riders and horses outside of their regular 4-H peers, we can help improve their observation, evaluation, and decision-making skills while preparing them for future judging contests and leadership opportunities.

Your participation will help create a valuable educational experience for our 4-H members and support the continued growth of our equine program.
If you are interested in volunteering yourself and your horse, please comment below or contact Horse Council or Jessica Quimby Horse Council President.

Thank you for supporting our 4-H youth! πŸ’šπŸ΄

πŸ΄πŸ“£ 4-H Equine Project News Blast πŸ“£πŸ΄

Fair season is quickly approaching, and there are several important reminders for all 4-H equine members and families!

βœ… Fair Entries – Make sure your fair entries are completed and submitted by the deadline of Monday, July 6, 2026.

βœ… Educational Posters – Educational posters are required for all horse exhibitors and should be displayed at your stall during fair. Posters should be easy to read from 10 feet away and focus on an equine-related educational topic. Posters may be turned in at the WSU Extension Office on July 6–9, July 13–16, or July 20–23.

βœ… Practice, Practice, Practice – Continue working on your showmanship, riding skills, and horse management. Remember that good sportsmanship and horsemanship are just as important as ribbons.

βœ… Equipment Check – Inspect your tack, grooming supplies, and show clothing now so you have plenty of time to repair, clean, or replace anything needed before fair.

βœ… Project Record Books – Keep your record books up to date and ready for evaluation. Record books may be turned in at the WSU Extension Office on July 6–9, July 13–16, or July 20–23, or at Vet Check during haul-in.

The fair is a great opportunity to showcase the hard work, dedication, and knowledge you have gained through your 4-H equine project.

We are excited to see everyone in the barns and arenas this year!

🐴 4-H Horse Exhibitors – Educational Poster Reminder 🐴

Just a friendly reminder that all 4-H horse exhibitors are required to have an educational poster displayed at their stall during fair.

Your poster should be educational in nature and designed so it can be easily read from approximately 10 feet away.

Posters are a great opportunity to teach fairgoers about your horse, breed characteristics, training, grooming, nutrition, horse care, equine health, riding disciplines, or another horse-related topic.

If you would like your educational poster to be judged, please make sure to include it on your Fair Entry Form when submitting your fair entries.

Educational posters help showcase the knowledge and hard work that goes into your 4-H horse project while educating the public about the equine industry.

We look forward to seeing your creativity and equine knowledge on display at fair! πŸ΄πŸ’š

4-H COUNTY FAIR ENTRY INFO – The FairEntry platform opens today at http://www.fairentry.com/Fair/SignIn/23268 for families submitting 4-H project entry information. Log in using the same email address and password as 4-H Online. Animal entries are due in FairEntry by Monday, July 6. After digital entry information is submitted, still life items are due at the WSU Extension Office (9a - 4p) in both Mason & Grays Harbor July 6-9, July 13-16 & July 20-23. Please contact WSU Extension staff or the 4-H Fair Committee volunteers to make alternate arrangements.

We are looking forward to seeing what 4-H clubs and members have been doing this year and are excited to use the FairEntry online registration platform again this year. Now that members have raised/trained animals, taken photos, made cookies/posters/creative arts, grew plants, built robots, gave presentations, hosted community service events, and more, it is time to explore the 4-H Exhibitor Guide, which describes opportunities and entry details.
