Elm Mott Volunteer Fire & Rescue Firefighting - one of the few professions left that still makes house calls since 1955

Volunteer firefighters serve the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, and building inspection and public education.

Elm Mott Fire Rescue crews are currently on scene on Brazos Point Dr due to a fire involving power lines and nearby vegetation.

This is an important reminder of why keeping trees and limbs properly trimmed away from power lines is critical, especially with the hot, dry conditions we are experiencing.

Crews will remain on scene due to the continued fire danger in the area. Please use caution around emergency vehicles and avoid the area if possible.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH A SERVANT’S HEART!

Elm Mott Fire Rescue is looking for people who are willing to give a little of their time to help make a difference in our community.

You don’t have to be a firefighter to be an important part of our team. Like any successful organization, there are countless jobs and tasks that need to be done behind the scenes. From helping around the station and with equipment, to administrative work, fundraising, community events and many other needs, we simply need people who are willing to come in and help see that the job gets done.

If you have a servant’s heart, care about your community, and can give just a few hours a week or even a few hours a month, we would love to have you join our highly successful team!

Sometimes, making a difference doesn’t require a lot of time—just a willingness to help.

COMMUNITY WEATHER ALERT — EXTREME HEAT TODAY

Elm Mott Fire Rescue wants everyone to be prepared for dangerous heat conditions today.

High temperatures: 104°–106°F
Heat index: Up to 113°F
Highest risk: Late morning through early evening

Temperatures this high can become dangerous quickly. Please:

• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
• Never leave children or pets inside a vehicle — even for a few minutes
• Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable A/C
• Keep outdoor pets supplied with plenty of fresh water and shade
• Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke

⚠️ Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Confusion, loss of consciousness, seizures, or extremely high body temperature require immediate action — call 911.

If you have to work outside today, take the heat seriously. Slow down, hydrate often, and watch out for each other.

Stay safe and stay cool.
