Heart of Ellsworth promotes artistic, cultural, economic, educational, environmental and historic activities in the downtown area to promote a vibrant community for all. And as the locals know, Downtown Ellsworth is an active year round community where quality shopping, dining, body and mind, personal services, professional services, entertainment, the library and outdoor recreation is simply why the greater community regularly visits the historic district taking in all it has to offer. Ellsworth is a small waterfront city that, as the Hancock County seat, is a vibrant community where people live and work, making it a great gathering area for people who live in the smaller communities in the region, as well as a destination for those who live further away. Our heritage is reflected in the historic buildings—City Hall, the library, the stately courthouse and lovely churches—which are all still used for their original purpose. Many downtown buildings have been refurbished where local, independently owned businesses offer a range of goods and services that cater to all desires and tastes. Downtown Ellsworth is the section of the city that is committed to those visitors who are seeking a true local experience where outstanding service and quality goods are are trademark.
