Families First Community Center

Families First Community Center Our Mission :
We seek to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping families with minor children the skills they need to gain self-sufficiency.

Families First Community Center

What We Do:
FFCC makes it a priority to not only support our residents during their stay, but to offer ongoing support as needed after they leave the program through a series of scheduled meetings or conversations. FFCC Follow-up will serve to help us improve our programming, and improve the lives and success of our residents. DISCLAIMER: FFCC will either provide t

he following services directly or REFER ELSEWHERE as needed: FFCC will help families in our program get set up with services they need. Families First Community Center provides supported transitional housing for six live-in families with at least one minor child. Each family has a private apartment with access to many common areas which include a common kitchen, a dining room, double parlors, laundry room, and an on-site child care area. Families will stay from 12 to 24 months, gaining practical life skills and furthering their education in order to increase their independence and earning capacity. A live-in staff person is available evenings and on weekends. FFCC is a chem-free property and we encourage and support people in smoking cessation. How We Will Serve Families:
An Individualized Life Plan is developed, with maximum input from each participant based on personal and family needs, with help from FFCC staff and other family supports. Each adult will be encouraged and supported to develop the skills necessary to fulfill their Life Plan. What a beautiful partnership 💛💜

Families First Community Center is incredibly grateful for our partnership with Finding Our Voices, the grassroots, statewide nonprofit who awarded FFCC $20,000 specifically designated to support women escaping domestic abuse.

While FFCC serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness regardless of s*x, this grant is reserved specifically for women and their children who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness as a direct result of intimate partner abuse.

Some of the Get Out/Stay Out funding has already been utilized, but much of it remains available to continue helping women in our community access critical support, advocacy, emergency assistance, and stabilization services.

We are deeply thankful to Patrisha McLean and Finding Our Voices for believing in our mission and standing beside survivors across Maine.

Together, we are creating safer futures for women and families. 💛

Thank you Wireless Zone, Verizon Authorized Retailer for our $5,000 grant!

The support for our Helping Hours Outreach Program will have a direct and meaningful impact on some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in Hancock and Washington Counties. These funds will allow Families First Community Center to continue providing immediate, flexible assistance to individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, poverty, and crisis situations—many of whom have nowhere else to turn.

Throughout 2026, Helping Hours funding is expected to directly benefit approximately 300–350 individuals, including families with children, single parents, and individuals facing severe economic hardship. These are members of our own community: local workers, neighbors, parents, and friends who are struggling to meet basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, hygiene items, and emergency support.

The impact of this funding goes far beyond meeting immediate needs. By helping stabilize individuals and families during times of crisis, these funds also create opportunities for long-term change. Through case management, life planning, referrals, advocacy, and goal-setting support, FFCC works alongside participants to help them move toward greater stability and self-sufficiency.

Helping Hours funding provides critical flexibility to respond quickly when urgent situations arise, helping prevent homelessness whenever possible and ensuring that families remain safe and supported. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for Helping Hours’ commitment to strengthening rural Maine communities.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms in our FFCC community. 💐

Today, we celebrate your strength, resilience, love, and determination. Many of the mothers in our program have overcome tremendous obstacles while continuing to show up for their children every single day with courage and grace. That is something truly worth honoring.

We see the hard work behind the scenes — the sleepless nights, the sacrifices, the healing, the growth, the advocacy, the perseverance, and the unconditional love you give your families. Your journeys are powerful, and your children are lucky to have such strong mothers leading the way.

At FFCC, we are proud to walk alongside you as you build stability, independence, and brighter futures for your families. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers — especially those who continue to rise, rebuild, and never give up. You are appreciated more than words can say. ❤️
