The Ellington Farman Library Board of Trustees usually meets on the last Monday of each month in our Library Community Room. The Public is welcome to attend. Agenda & documents to be discussed at the monthly meeting can be requested from the library 24 hours prior to the open meeting at which the documents will be discussed. NEXT MEETING MONDAY AUGUST 31 . We welcome new board members! If you would like to serve as a Trustees please stop in and speak with the director or any of the trustees for more information. It's a great way to serve your community and help steer the library now and into the future!

Today is Thursday and Resistance Band Exercise is happening at the library at 1:30pm. We supply all the bands or you may bring your own. Come join them! No registration or commitment to make, just stop down and try it! You like it, come back next Thursday!

Openings available! We like to give local/regional artists a place to display their work. If you have artwork or a collection you would like to have displayed in our Community Room display case please call the library at 716-287-2945 and speak with the director. Artwork usually stays up for a full month but we can be flexible and work with you to find a timeline that works for you.

COMMUNITY LUNCHEON: FREE MONTHLY SOUP & SANDWICH LUNCH : Come socialize and enjoy lunch with your neighbors every third Thursday of the month from noon-1pm. Sponsored, cooked and served with love by the Ellington United Methodist Church volunteers. No registration necessary. This month it is happening today! Thursday August 20th! The church is located at 776 West Main Street, Ellington. The church would also like to thank everyone who supported them during the Town Picnic by purchasing food at their booth.

Measles Immunization Clinic: Tuesday August 25th; 9am - 1pm at Baptist Church of Ellington. Free clinic, all ages welcome, no insurance card needed. 2 doses are needed so come for the first one and they will schedule you for the second one. Measles is on the rise in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus County. Please help us spread the word about these clinics and help Stop the spread of the disease.

Don't forget the Celoron Park Remembrance film presented by the Fenton History Center, will be tonite; Wednesday August 19 from 6-7pm. Historic Celoron Park was a famous amusement destination located on the shores of Chautauqua Lake in Celoron, NY. There are still many people who have childhood memories of attending the park. Often referred to as the "Coney Island of Western New York", it operated from 1894 until 1962, featuring classic rides, a massive Ferris wheel, a grand ballroom, and vaudeville shows. Established by the Broadhead family, the park boasted top-tier entertainment, a wooden roller coaster, and a 165-foot Ferris wheel called "The Phoenix". Today, the amusement park is gone, but the site serves as the Lucille Ball Memorial Park to honor the village's most famous resident. The film is produced by and based on the book by Thomas J. Goodwill. The book was published in 2009 and the film produced in 2024. Mr. Goodwill is the Board President of the Fenton History Center. If you have any memories of the park we would welcome you to share them also!
