We’re looking for some folks who would like to help us make a wooden holiday village! We have the houses already glued up, we have all the adornments you can pick from our huge selection, we have hot glue, sprinkles, paint and more! In other words, we can supply everything for you to make these wooden houses really cute and festive. The plan is to display the village either in our front windows or in the display case, (or anywhere we think it might look good! )Come gather at the library on any or all of the days we have scheduled. We’ll try to put out some refreshments because it’s more fun to eat and create and it’s even more fun to do it with a friend. We welcome everyone over the age of 12. We have a separate craft for younger children scheduled for another time. Next session is Tuesday, October 20th from 4-6pm.

It's almost time!! Time for Christmas? Time for snow? No! It's almost time for the Election Night Dinner to be held on Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 3 from 4-6:30pm. What's different this year is it can be a take out OR sit down dinner. It's a full turkey dinner with Turkey & Gravy, Stuffing, Mashed potatoes, vegetable, cranberry sauce, Dessert and Coffee included if eating here. All for $15 adult or $12 under age 12. The catch is we need you to preorder by October 26th so we can order enough food. Pre-order by calling the library 716-287-2945 with details such as; name, how any adult dinners, how many children and a clear phone number. Payment will be made at time of picking up dinner. You may also call 716-720-3099 to order. We're so excited to be able to offer the sit down dinner this year! Come visit with friends and neighbors and enjoy a delicious, affordable turkey dinner.

I'm sorry for the late notice but we will be closing early tonite- at 6pm. This is so the library can have a presence at the Town Hall Meeting with Sheriff Quatrone scheduled for tonight at 6pm at the Ellington Town Hall. The public is encouraged to attend.

Resistance Band Exercise Class meets today @1:30pm after the Book Club. Come to book club at 11am, then head over the the Ellington United Methodist Church to socialize and enjoy lunch with your neighbors every third Thursday of the month from noon-1pm. Sponsored, cooked and served with love by the Ellington United Methodist Church volunteers. No registration necessary. The church is located at 776 West Main Street, Ellington. THEN, come back to Resistance Band exercise class at the library.

The Adult Book Club meets tomorrow, Thursday October 15 at 11am. Club members choose their monthly titles and the library provides copies to all members if needed. New members are always welcome. In October they will be discussing “The Correspondent” by Virginia Evans. “Imagine, the letters one has sent out into the world, the letters received back in turn, are like the pieces of a magnificent puzzle. . . . Isn’t there something wonderful in that, to think that a story of one’s life is preserved in some way, that this very letter may one day mean something, even if it is a very small thing, to someone?”

Tonite! The second class in the Sam Warren Mycology Classes: Sam Warren is a citizen mycologist, Outdoor educator, and commercial mushroom forager from Almond, NY. Sam is certified in wild mushroom safety in 13 states as well as a NYSOGA licensed New York State hunting and hiking guide. His passion for mycology has found him leading forays, running workshops and speaking on panels at various mycology festivals across the North East. Tonite is "Growing Mushrooms" Weds Oct. 14, 7-8:30pm. In this workshop he covers an easily replicable, affordable method to turn our everyday waste into a delicious, nutritious snack. Everyone leaves with their own bag of inoculated cardboard. These classes required pre-registration and this class is now full. The programs are funded by the Falconer Region Geographic Grant administered by the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.

Fenton History Center to Present Program: Explore the fascinating world of the Victorian woman through the Fenton History Center’s presentation “ Extravagance and Modesty” to be presented on Wednesday, October 21 at 6pm at the Ellington Farman library. Discover how social class, immigration, industrialization, fashion, and the expanding roles of women shaped daily life from the Civil War era through early 20th century.. This program is free and no registration is needed.

We are getting excited about for the first Holiday Village Craft get together on Monday, October 12 from 11am - 1pm. No registration, just stop in and it's ok if you have to leave early. It's a community Craft project where we supply all the materials and you supply the creativity! We have wooden houses all glued up and ready to paint and decorate. We also have little evergreen trees, lights and anything else you might like to add to make this a fun & festive craft! The final goal is to make a permanent library display that we can set up every winter. Come gather at the library on any or all of the days we have scheduled. We’ll try to put out some refreshments because it’s more fun to eat and create and it’s even more fun to do it with a friend. We welcome everyone over the age of 12. We have a separate craft for younger children scheduled for another time.
