National Volunteer Month is celebrated every April in the United States to honor volunteers and encourage community service.

Ellington CERT would like to Thank Cassaundra Popek (5 year), Carolyn Henkel, Cheryl Dinse, Rhonda Villanova, Debbie Kelis, Denise Currier, and Michael Gulick for 10 years of Service. Ellington CERT has a picnic annually to Thank our Team for all they do !!!! Our Folks have operated our Emergency shelter, have directed traffic in the pouring rain to facilitate covid testing, stood in the cold handing out covid test kits, assisted with covid & H1N1 shot clinics, Annually we re-train in our shelters, take C.P.R. classes and remain at the ready for man-made or natural disasters.

Hard to believe the Ellington Community Emergency Response Team is 15 YEARS OLD, and these 7 folks have been there all along. Pictured are John Streiber, Alan Schultz, Kenlyn Streiber, Kris Picard-Wambolt, and Diana Chamberland. Kurt Sullivan and Frederica Weeks are not present but greatly appreciated).

Our story starts when Micky Stupinski was 1st Selectman and Don Davis was our Emergency Management Director, we decided to form the team which maintains around 30 members.
Their function is being prepared to perform such emergency functions as Emergency Operation Center setup and operation, Emergency Shelter setup and operation, pet sheltering, assisting the Town and other emergency services when needed in time of a disaster, we promote becoming Ham radio and CPR certified. We welcome all people who have the drive to help out when needed.

Trail to Treats event on Monay October 23, 2023, Ellington C.E.R.T. assisted Ellington Centennial Lions by directing traffic , roaming safety patrol teams, creating a communications plan, and handing out candy, we had 14 total persons volunteering for this event. GREAT JOB TEAM.

Last Night Ellington CERT performed our Crystal Lake School annual Shelter training, we inventoried our supplies, discussed ideas and procedures, toured the sleeping, cooking, and social quarters, made recommendations for improvements. I am very grateful for everyone who diligently remains prepared for the Town of Ellington residents. Thank you Kris, Deanna, Tracey, Donald, Kenlyn, Carolyn, Lois, Tom, Jim, Cheryl, Rhonda, Freddie, Michael, and Welcome to our new member Christina.
