Dhruv went on to extend his help to several local soup kitchens by donating food items, showcasing a consistent and heartfelt commitment to tackling food insecurity in various ways. Recognizing his exceptional commitment, Dhruv's efforts were acknowledged in 2020 when he was selected as Connecticut's top youth volunteer in the middle school category by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This prestigious accolade came with a scholarship grant of $2500, a sum that Dhruv chose to donate to FoodShare's special food distribution drive-thru, a crucial initiative held during the pandemic to ensure food availability for those in need.
"My dedication to community service is driven by an innate duty to give back. It was during our bi-annual family visits to India and my time volunteering at FoodShare that I came face-to-face with the harsh reality of food insecurity. The staggering statistic of 800 million individuals grappling with this issue globally, a number exacerbated by the pandemic, left an indelible impact on me.To address this pressing concern, I co-founded a non-profit organization named Art of Giving. In addition to organizing several food drives and fundraisers in the US, we have extended our support to families in India who found themselves unemployed due to the pandemic. Looking ahead, my commitment remains unwavering. I am determined to continue supporting FoodShare, an organization that has brought about significant positive change by providing an astounding 39 million meals in the past year alone. Additionally, my aspirations include assisting vulnerable individuals in less developed nations, with the ultimate goal of alleviating the widespread issue of food insecurity".
