Since 1919, Optimist volunteers have been bringing out the best in youth, in their communities, and in themselves through a variety of service and volunteer projects. d Friday of each month for its regular membership meeting and gathers socially on months that have a 5th Friday. MISSION: By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in youth, our communities and ourselves. VISION: Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential. PURPOSES: To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world. Mark your calendar for our upcoming Gilmer County Optimist Club meeting, Wednesday Aug 5th 12-1pm at the George Link, Jr. Gilmer Arts Playhouse. Our guest speaker is our very own Optimist member and Gilmer County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Brian Ridley. We will also share updates from our 14th Annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, Dime A Day and our Junior Golfers who are competing in Miami. Bring your lunch and come join us!
