GUEST RULES
RESPECT: VOLUNTEERS, OTHER GUESTS, FACILITY

THESE ARE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR BENEFIT. IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK ONE OF THE STAFF.

1. GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES IN:
THEIR SLEEPING AREA, THE MAIN ROOM, THE BATHROOM, OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AND CLEAN UP AFTER PETS.

2. GUESTS ARE TO SET UP THEIR OWN BED
COMPLETE WITH SHEETS, BLANKETS AND PILLOWS. PUT SOILED LINENS IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM TO BE LAUNDERED IN THE MORNING.

3. GUESTS ARE EXPECTED TO SIGN UP FOR CLEAN UP DUTIES AND PERFORM THEM

4. LIGHTS MUST BE OUT BY 10:00 PM AND GUESTS MUST EXIT BY 7:00 AM UNLESS TEMPERATURES DICTATE STAYING.

5. IF YOU WANT ASSISTANCE FOR REFERRAL INFORMATION FOR VARIOUS SERVICES, PLEASE SPEAK TO A STAFF MEMBER

6. PETS ARE TO BE CRATED AS SOON AS THEY ARE BROUGHT INTO THE CENTER.
FOOD, WATER, CRATES, AND OTHER SUPPLIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THEM. GUESTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING UP AFTER THEIR PETS BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE BUILDING. PLASTIC BAGS ARE PROVIDED FOR CLEAN UP. PETS CAN BE WALKED BEYOND THE PARKING LOT. A TRASH CAN IS AVAILABLE FOR WASTE. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR PETS TO RELIEVE THEMSELVES ANYWHERE NEAR THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING.

7. ONCE YOU CHECK INTO THE CENTER, YOU ARE TO REMAIN THERE UNTIL MORNING. VISTORS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN.

8. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SMOKE OUTSIDE BUT CIGARETTE BUTTS WILL BE DISPOSED OF IN THE PROPER CONTAINER OUTSIDE, NOT ON THE GROUND. ALCOHOL AND ILLEGAL DRUGS ARE STRICKLY PROHIBITED.

9. MEN WILL SLEEP IN ONE OF THE DORM ROOMS AND WOMEN IN THE OTHER. FAMILIES (PARENTS WITH CHILDREN) WILL SLEEP IN THE MAIN ROOM.

The Gilmer County Warming Center is preparing for the winter and frigid nights when those who need us most will need a warm place to sleep. Our new location, provided by Gilmer County, will provide new additional services to include shower and laundry. The building, located behind the Civic Center (1563 South Main Street, formerly Gilmer County Sheriff offices) will allow access by parking in the back and entering through the right back door.

You, your church, organization or friends are needed. Review these opportunities and get involved!
September 29 - Informational Meetings at 11AM and 6PM
October 2 – Informational Meeting at 2PM
October 6 – NEW Volunteer Training at 11am and 6pm
October 7 – NEW Volunteer Training at 4:30pm
October 13 – Open House for the Community from 4:00 – 7:00PM

For our PAST volunteers, there will be “drop in” opportunities to see the new location on September 21, 22 and 23.

Volunteer opportunities will include overnight, morning closing and food.

Gilmer Warming Center Volunteers Needed!!

Did you know our community offers a safe place for those in need of warmth during freezing temperatures? It can't be done without open hearts and willing hands to serve. If you, your church, business or community organization would be interested in learning more, please plan to attend ONE of these two volunteer training sessions at the Gilmer County Civic Center 1561 South Main Street. Meeting will take place in the classroom. Enter through the side door across from the pickleball courts.

Faith Hope and Charity provides financial assistance to Gilmer residents on Tuesday / Thursday 9 till noon. 706/635-3045
