Clarity Audiology Community Project

MISSION: Provide hearing healthcare to individuals in Howard County Maryland and surrounding areas who cannot afford it on their own, while providing them with opportunities to give back to the community through service to others. VISION: Improve the quality of life of low-income individuals in our community with hearing loss through affordable hearing healthcare, and to create a “circle of giving” whereby the recipient of our services gives back to the community through service and gains a greater purpose while doing so. PROMISE: Maintain the integrity of all individuals we serve and help them to live their best life through better hearing and a commitment to community service. GOAL: Fit 24 individuals with hearing aids and provide 36 hearing tests over the course of one year. MODEL: We are not a free clinic. We operate on a reduced fee schedule to make hearing healthcare affordable for individuals and families with incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty level. Individuals who qualify for hearing aids through the program pay just $75 for a brand-new hearing aid with a 3-year warranty. In return, our unique Circle of Giving model gives our patients the opportunity to give back to the community through volunteer hours. Our hearing aid donation program collects used hearing aids for credit and for global mission trips.

We rely on the support of our community through grants, donations, corporate sponsorship and volunteers to make our programs sustainable. The Clarity Audiology Community Project is run in collaboration with Hearing the Call, a national nonprofit entity helping to make hearing healthcare accessible and affordable to all. Hearing the Call was created by the founders of GiveHear in Fort Wayne Indiana, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit hearing center that has been largely successful in implementing the Circle of Giving model.
