You are not an HCEA member yet. Here is what that actually means.

Right now you are working under a contract HCEA negotiated. You have protections HCEA fought for. You are getting the raises, the leave and the funding wins that Howard County educators organized to win.

You just do not have a say in what comes next.

Members vote on the contract and on who leads HCEA. Members can get as involved as they want, even making decisions about what HCEA does if they choose to serve on a committee or run for HCEA offices. Members get representation when something goes wrong, plus benefits and discounts most people never hear about.

Most of Howard County's educators are already in. This September we are making it easy to join them.

I haven't made any endorsements so far but this County council race is very important. Cat Carter has been a fixture in state and county advocacy for many years, generously giving her time in service to others. She has the experience, temperament and talent required to be an effective member of the County Council, and there is no one better suited to represent District 5.
