Join us to kick off the season with our annual Spring Flora Hike! Once again, we have partnered with of Sierra Club to host a guided spring flora identification hike through the beautiful stone bluffs and winding creeks of Green’s Bluff! We encourage carpooling and will be meeting at the Spencer Pride Community Center at 9:00 to group up and head to the trail (limited parking)

Today I went to check out the new “accessible” trail (Echo Point) at McCormick’s Creek State Park! The headlines and press around this trail marketed it as an “accessible” one and as someone who plans and organizes outdoor recreation events I wanted to see if it could be a potential location to offer accessible events in the future.

This trail is not accessible!!! I find it a real shame that the park is fostering buzz for it being so. Yes, there is a railing through maybe 1/2 of the trial. There are also benches in one small area of the trail, and the ground is stamped to make it easier to trek. But saying this accessible is something that it is not and false advertising.

you really should rethink this positioning.
