One of the goals of the Kono Development Foundation is to advance the education of our people. In furthering this objective, I have decided to embark on giving pep talks to our senior Secondary school students whenever I am in the country on health issues. On November 23, 2021; I started doing just that on the topic: sexually transmitted diseases among young adults. My plan is to give one or two more pep talks on this topic before I return to the States.

Kono Development Foundation (KDF) a 501c(3) Non-profit organization and a Non- Governmental Organisation registered in Sierra Leone launched its community empowerment microfinance program today in Mansunduwa Sandor, Kono District. This is a pilot program; with success the program will be expanded to give financial opportunities to mostly women in other parts of Kono District. Today we started with 10 small businessmen and women, each of the approved applicant received Le1,000,000 (one million Leones). The terms are 26 weekly installment payments at 20% interest. 50% of the 20% interest will be returned the applicants if they make payments on time. The other 50% will be put back into the funds in order to add more participants or increase funding to existing participants.
Kono Development Foundation will not keep or benefit from any interests paid by participants.
