Hoping I could get your support on an issue that impacts the youth of our community and particularly children that play at the Berme Road Park but dont have access to the Lippman Park.
There are two major parks in the Town of Wawarsing, Lippman Park and Berme Road Park.Town tax dollars which include village taxpayer funds are constantly used to upgrade Lippman Park while the Town ignores the continuing villages request to assist in upgrading the Berme Road Park. Recently the Town purchased 6 new pieces of playground equipment for the Lippman Park but ignored the villages request that comparable equipment be installed in the Berme Road Park. The losers of course are our village children who play at the Berme Road.
This is not an unreasonable request. Both the Towns of New Paltz and Saugerties invest heavily in parks located in the villages within their town, Wawarsing which collects approximately $400,000 from village taxpayers constantly refuses to spend any town tax money within the village with few exceptions.
It is imperative that this mentality must change particularly for the youth of our community who don't have the luxury of going to the Lippman Park.
We need your help and support. Especially during the budget period it is important to point out to the Town the disparity they continue to support between the children using the Lippman Park and those using the Berme Road Park.
