This week, we proudly celebrated our newest Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)!

In front of a courtroom filled with family and friends, Judge James Kirkham officially swore in Barbara Becker, who has answered the call to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. As a CASA volunteer, Barbara will help ensure that each child's voice is heard and that their best interests are represented throughout the court process.

We are deeply grateful for her commitment, compassion, and dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of children in Kittitas County. We are honored to welcome her to the CASA family!

Together, we can help every child find a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.

Today we recognize International Day of Families.

Observed each year on May 15, this global day was established by the United Nations to recognize the vital role families play in strong, healthy communities.

Families and strong support systems help children thrive. At CASA, we’re proud to advocate for children and help build brighter futures for children and families in our community.

⭐ Ambassador Award: Jean Thornton ⭐

We’re proud to recognize Jean Thornton as our 2025 Ambassador Award Recipient.
For 17 years, Jean has been a steady, thoughtful, and deeply committed presence in our CASA program. She has advocated for 27 children during her time with us, always bringing compassion, clear communication, and a steady hand to every case.

Jean has guided families and professionals through complicated situations, supported new advocates as they found their footing, and consistently shown up for kids when they needed someone in their corner.

Her dedication has made a lasting difference for our program and for children across Kittitas County.

Please join us in celebrating Jean and the impact she’s had over nearly two decades of service.
