Claw into the Kittitas Audubon's March program on Thursday, March 19th at 7 p.m. as speaker Deb Essman presents, "Raptors of Kittitas County".

Kittitas County is home to 18 species of diurnal raptors! This month's close to home program will be about the tricks of identifying and understanding our county's raptors. Some are common year-round residents, some are reliable migrants, and three are rare but not impossible to find here.

Deb is a former raptor rehabilitator, and has always been especially fascinated with birds of prey. Each has its own special way of hunting, flying and nesting. In her program she will not only want to share intriguing facts about each species, but also pass along field identification tips that will make distinguishing each species a lot easier.

We are shaking things up in 2026 and starting a new competition game-night series!

The first event is a YAHTZEE® tournament!

This dicey event is happening at the Hal Holmes Community Center on Tuesday, March 24 at 6 p.m.

This is a single-elimination tournament with a trophy for the champion roller. In our true let’s-just-have-a-fun-time nature, there will be awards and prizes for the best yacht rock-themed outfit, dicey game trivia, fun music and MORE!

Roll on up to the Ellensburg Public Library Reference Dept. desk and sign up to compete, space is limited, and we are expecting a Full House...

According to Hasbro.com, YAHTZEE® was invented in the 1950’s by a wealthy Canadian couple to play aboard their yacht. Whenever friends were invited aboard, they were taught how to play the "Yacht" game. So put on your boat shoes and ascot and join us.

The 2026 game night series is free and open to all persons over 18. Rules for each event will be made available leading up to the night of the event and are subject to change - Because we just want to have fun and reason to bring our community together.

This event is hosted by the Ellensburg Public Library’s Adult Services Department and the Hal Holmes Community Center, and sponsored by the Friends of the Library. If you have questions, please contact the Hal Holmes office at 509-962-7240 or email [email protected]
