Where does the money for KSF's grant program come from? We call it the 1% For Public Lands program - local businesses that rely on outdoor tourism offer their customers a quick and easy way to give back to the lands, and that money fuels the grants! Visit our website to learn more, and follow this page for spotlights on our participating partner businesses:

1% for Public Lands is a program of the Kittitas Stewardship Fund that raises money for projects that keep Kittitas County’s public lands healthy, accessible, and safe for all to enjoy.

GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT!

The Kittitas Stewardship Fund provides mini-grants to local partners, enabling them to work on the ground in our communities for the benefit of our shared environment! Check out one of our 2023-24 grant recipients, Outdoor School:

"Washington Outdoor School's (WOS) mission is to cultivate learning and growth in joyful partnership with nature and our community. Our Mobile Explorer Partner Program sends skilled teachers from WOS into Pre K-12 classrooms in school districts in Kittitas County. We partner with classroom teachers to take learning outside for immersive experiences in the natural world to extend, enhance and augment classroom learning during the school day. With the KSF grant this year we partnered with Ida Nason Aronica Elementery in the Ellensburg School District and with a 3rd grade and an 7th grade teacher in the Cle Elum Roslyn School District. Students learned about native plants. As one of our partner teachers commented, "[we got to be] out in nature during our school day [able] to immerse ourselves in our 'place.'" Students listened to traditional Indigenous stories, learned how to be responsible stewards of our shared environments and wrote nature inspired poetry among many other inspiring things."
