Piper is a senior at CWU working on her Certified Flight Instructor Rating, and hopes to teach as a CFI at the school after getting her rating. She has been a member of Women in Aviation since her freshman year and has attended two of the WAI conferences, in Florida and Tennessee. Piper is always looking for opportunities to share her love of flying and help people explore their own aviation passions.

“I’m Kylie Copeland, a first year student in aviation here at cwu, and I have lot of different experience setting up events, as well as outreaching to different communities through robotics and Girl Scouts. I also was the outreach/media chair for the National Honors Society. I’d love to help out the chapter as a member of the board.”

"Hi everyone! My name is Taylor Kai but everyone calls me TK. I was born and raised in Kailua, Hawaii and came to CWU to play softball and fly in the aviation program. I am currently a junior here, working on my commercial rating. I have been a part of WAI since 2019 and I would love to serve on the board this year! I look forward to talking more with everyone in the future!"

"Hello!

My name's Brenden, and I'm a transfer student from Northeastern Illinois University. In my junior year I left school to join the Navy and served 6 years as an Aegis Fire Controlman on a Destroyer. Currently working on my Private Pilot's License and hoping with lots of time and patience to have the privilege of becoming an Aerial Firefighter one day.

I'm new to Ellensburg, and am absolutely enamored by the community here. When I was searching for schools to pursue my aviation dreams, I flew in the day after a snow storm, and drove this tiny Fiat over the mountain pass on my way in from Sea-Tac. I've done my fair share of traveling, but driving through that pass was hands down the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It looked like I was driving through a snow globe!

Since then, I've felt a real connection to this region of Washington, and really want to focus my time on giving back to the land and community here. Organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Washington Trails Association, and even the Ellensburg Animal Shelter could hugely benefit from the volunteer work provided by Women in Aviation!

If you were to vote for me as Outreach Chair, I'd bring that passion into CWU's Women in Aviation Chapter, and together we can help keep Washington the beautiful place that it is."

"My name is Celista Horton, I am currently running for President and Vice President of the Women in Aviation Club. I am a first-year student at CWU and I am earning my Private Pilot license. I would be a good candidate for these positions because I have the qualities to make a well-rounded leader. Last year I was the Editor of my high school yearbook and salutatorian of my class. These experiences helped me develop the skills to be a leader, take on responsibility, work well with a team, and manage stressful situations. I will work my hardest in any position I am given to better the Women in Aviation club and create opportunities for its members. Thank you for your time and consideration."

"My name is Emma McLaughlin. I am a first-year student working on my instrument rating. My goal in aviation is to one day be in the captain seat, flying internationally. While this is my first year at CWU, it is not my first-time hearing about Women in Aviation. In fact, my love for aviation started in seventh grade when I went on a field trip with the Amelia Earhart club from the Museum of Flight. The positive interactions I had learning about women in aviation as well as the empowerment I felt through these organizations is something I want to help keep alive. I know first-hand what a positive influence these clubs can have, not only in inspiring dreams but also boosting the confidence of young people to fight for what they want in life. I believe it is important for young girls to learn that anything that they dream of doing is possible and there are resources out there for them to strive to that potential.

I am running for both the Vice President of the club and the chapter Secretary because any impact I can make in the Women in Aviation International club would be phenomenal. I know I will give it my best effort and strive for success in any position."
