The 2024 Shop with a Cop and Firefighter event was a huge success this past weekend! 53 children from every elementary school in Kittitas County were able to attend due to the generous donations from our businesses, community members, and first responders. Every child who needed a bike and helmet received one (45 bikes in total)!

The children enjoyed a pancake breakfast with their first responder and a shopping spree at Bimart. Santa made a surprise visit at Bimart which created a lot of excitement for the children. We had 20 local educators who volunteered to wrap gifts again this year and each family was given a Christmas ham meal basket provided by Windermere Real Estate. New this year, a local photographer donated their time to provide professional looking photos with Santa that will be given to the children so they can have a lasting memory of the event.

We can’t thank our community enough for helping make this all possible. We hope seeing some of these smiling faces help you realize your efforts were worth it! THANK YOU!

Dear Friends in the Community,

For the past 22 years, Ellensburg has proudly hosted Kittitas County Shop with a Cop and Firefighter. This wonderful non-profit program provides children in need with a unique and joyful holiday experience.

Each year, local elementary schools select approximately 40-50 children to participate. This December, they will gather at Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue's Station 29 for a special breakfast prepared by our dedicated firefighters. Afterward, the kids will enjoy a fun shopping spree at BiMart, accompanied by their law enforcement or firefighter buddies. With the funds raised, each child will have the chance to buy gifts for family, friends, or themselves.

Your support is crucial! Any donation, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact and help create lasting memories for these special kids.

The 21st Kittitas County Shop with a Cop and firefighter event was a major success! This year, due to generous donations, we were able to add 12 more children, so we had 53 kids.

On Saturday, children met with local first responders at the Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue station, where they enjoyed a breakfast prepared by the Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue Firefighters. First responders purchased bicycles so the children who needed a bicycle had the opportunity to be drawn to win one. Once the drawing was done, there were 7 names that hadn’t been drawn. Two first responders decided to go in together to purchase the remaining 7 bikes for the children who weren’t drawn. This means every child who needed a bike this year got one! They were also provided with a new helmet.

They then went to BiMart, where the children enjoyed a shopping spree with their first responder. The children never just think about themselves and purchased gifts for others in their family. The children got to meet Santa on their way out of BiMart and get their picture taken.

New this year we teamed up with 20 local elementary teachers who volunteered to wrap the gifts the children purchased. This was the first time we have wrapped gifts and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without them. Also new this year, Windermere Real Estate provided all the children with a Christmas meal basket that included a ham with sides.

Money was raised from community donations, grants, and from first responders. The generosity of this community amazes us each year and we can’t thank them enough for their donations.

Donations to this 501(c)(3) can be made in the following ways. Donations are accepted all year long so we can have funds for the next year.

Checks can be made out to “Kittitas County shop with a cop and firefighter” and mailed to
PO Box 981, Ellensburg, WA 98926.

Dropped off at the KVFR Fire Station located at 400 E. Mountain View Avenue or the Ellensburg Police Department at 100 N Pearl Street.
