Labor Day Weekend this year was one for the books! This year marked the 100th “birthday” of Ellensburg Fire Department’s original 1926 Seagrave Engine #1! While the restoration project of our historical engine is just beginning, Local 663 members have been hard at work over the last few months to make Engine 1 road worthy for the annual Labor Day Parade. Well done guys! We can’t wait to see it finished!

A reminder that we are one week out from the Primary Ballots being due.

Local 663 members would like to continue to encourage our community members to vote to approve the $.15 lid lift request that is put forward by our Fire Commissioners.

This lift will help KVFR maintain current staffing and response capabilities!

Below is a message from the Kittitas County Auditors Office that you may find helpful!

Ballots for the August 4th, 2026, Primary Election are being mailed out to all registered Kittitas County voters!

To make sure your vote counts, we strongly encourage you to return your ballot early when mailing it back through the USPS, or by using one of our secure ballot drop boxes.

ALL nine of our county-wide drop boxes are open for this election! They are secure, convenient, and require no postage. Drop boxes will close promptly at 8:00 PM on Election Night, August 4th.

Returning by mail?
Your ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day (August 4th). We strongly recommend mailing it as early as possible to guarantee a timely postmark!

🚒 Mutual Aid Response 🚒

As of 5pm this evening KVFR FD7 FD1 and FD6 are currently responding as part of a mutual aid/State Mobilization assignment to assist with a brush fire in White Swan.

We are proud to work with the dedicated men and women from our surrounding departments. Mutual aid is a vital part of the fire service, ensuring communities have the resources they need when emergencies exceed the capabilities of a single agency.

Wildfires impact more than just acres on a map—they affect the places where families have built their lives, where generations have made memories. Watching these landscapes burn is never easy, especially knowing the significance they hold for so many in our community. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this fire.

Local 663 is excited to share this announcement with our Kittitas Valley community!

Our Local was invited, by our Fire Commissioners, to participate in the process of interviews and selection for the next Fire Chief to lead the organization. We are grateful for that opportunity and are ready for the next step in leadership for our citizens.

Ballots will be in the mail on the 14th of July.

Local 663 is in support of the Lid Lift that your elected Fire Commissioners have put up for a vote in August.

We encourage you to go to KVFR.org and review meeting minutes from the past and agenda items for upcoming meetings. Staying involved and asking questions is a great way to understand what KVFR is facing!

Commissioner meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM.

Your KVFR commissioners have voted to put a 15 cent levy lid lift on the August 2026 Ballott. Attached here you will find a fact sheet from the commissioners and our administrative staff that explains what this levy will go to support.

Your Local 663 Ellensburg Union Firefighters support this levy to maintain current services for our community!

Join us THIS SATURDAY for our annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast at KVFR Station 29! Doors open at 8am and breakfast will be served until 11am!

Ellensburg community members.

There is a special meeting on the evening of 6/23/26 7:00PM at 400 E. Mt. View Ave at Station 29.

There is potential that at this meeting the board could announce the current applicants for KVFR’s next Fire Chief.

This evening Central Washington University graduated its 52nd Paramedic cohort! Many of our members attended the ceremony to congratulate the newly pinned paramedics on their year of hard work.

Below FF/PM Sarah Sandman stands with her paramedic student Grace Jackson after being named Preceptor of the Year! Congratulations Sarah!

Local 663 would also like to welcome and congratulate our newest hire, Byron Walker, pictured here with his preceptor FF/PM Lauren Fritts. Tomorrow Byron will make his transition from student to Probationary Firefighter Paramedic as he returns to KVFR for his first official shift as a member of the organization.

Congratulations to ALL of the graduates! Well done!
