Heads Up: Online Tricks Are Real.
Your social media and apps are cool, but they're also targets. People online might try to trick you to get private photos, family info, or even blackmail you for money or s*xual exploitation. Knowing their tricks is your power.
Stay in Control:
Trust Your Gut: If a message or request makes you feel weird or pressured, it's a RED FLAG. Block them right away!
No Secrets: If someone asks you to keep your chat a secret from your parents or trusted adults, TELL SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY. It’s not your fault.
Privacy is Power: Never share passwords or intimate images. What you send online is permanent.
You Have the Right to Say NO: You control your body and your choices, online and off. Always. #

November is recognized as National Homelessness Awareness Month. Essential needs such as food, housing, shelter, and clothing are crucial for children to live and flourish. When these fundamental needs are unmet, children may resort to alternative means to obtain what is necessary for their survival. Traffickers and s*xual abusers exploit this vulnerability to groom, recruit, and take advantage of children. At times, traffickers deceive these minors; at other times, they clearly outline what they will force a child to do for food and shelter. No child should ever find themselves in such circumstances. As responsible adults, it is our duty to ensure the safety of children.

We know this issue is extremely difficult at any age so we know that trained counselors offer your best change for real help and change. Counselors are the best for children because they have studied and helped children of domestic violence before so they can guide a child and family in healthy and safe ways. The data from the CDC’s Youth Behavior Risk Survey for 2021 and 2022 indicates that the percentage of teenage girls reporting experiences of s*xual violence has risen (from 15% in 2017 to 18% in 2021). *"In the past decade, teenage girls have reported the highest rates of sadness and s*xual violence, with 30% indicating that they have seriously contemplated su***de (a nearly 60% increase since 2011)." This October, in recognition of Domestic Violence Month, we urge everyone to acknowledge that violence—both physical and s*xual—occurs in homes affecting both girls and boys, irrespective of their financial or social circumstances.
