Did you know you can TEXT 911?! Introduced in 2014, text to 911 is a life saving option in Kanawha County!

WHEN TO:
• If you experience hearing impairment or speech delays
• If you are in an unsafe situation to where you are unable to speak
• If you are in a situation where calling 911 could put you in danger

HOW TO:
• Enter “911” as your recipient
• Send a text with any vital information you are able to obtain and relay. Most importantly, your location OR the location of where emergency services are needed.
• Answer any corresponding texts you may receive in return from the 911 telecommunicator.

‼️ While this feature is a valuable option in certain situations, calling 911 remains the fastest and most efficent way to get help. Voice calls allow 911 to obtain critical information more quickly and ask follow up questions in real time. Every second matters! ‼️

Yesterday we performed our annual pump performance testing. These comprehensive evaluations test the fire pumps to ensure they can perform to their designed specifications when it counts.

Tomorrow, October 1, fall fire season begins and runs until December 31. As most of us know, we are currently in drought conditions causing conditions for forest fires to become even more severe.
If you plan on any outdoor burning, please be aware of the above restrictions and exercise extreme caution while doing so. Having a water hose close by during burning can be an extremely beneficial if your fire starts to become uncontrollable.

Yesterday a few of our members assisted in getting our pumpers through a required annual testing process. This routine is a physical testing process that ensures the onboard pumps are capable of performing to their designed capacity and performance.

🔥 West Virginia Forest Fire season begins tomorrow, March 1st. No daytime burning allowed. It is against the law to leave a fire unattended. Please follow the WV burn laws!
