To celebrate the coming summer on Saturday, May 30, many children and their families gathered at Ackerman Park for Elkton Lions Kids Day. The festivities proved substantial, ranging from equipment tours by emergency responders to face painting by Joell. Meanwhile, Parks & Rec served around 400 hot dogs. Elkton Lions handed out about 200 kites. Bay Shore Camp set up inflatables and the rock-climbing wall, having staff ready to supervise kids on their adventures. Elkton Lions oversaw the foam party, releasing constant joy. Thanks to Bay Shore Camp for providing the foam party equipment.

We are grateful for the combined efforts for Lions Kids Day 2026. Give it up for Elkton Lions, Parks & Rec, Bay Shore Camp, Oliver Township Fire Department, Elkton Ambulance Service, Elkton Police Chief Scott Jobes, Huron County CAN Council, Scheurer Hospital, McLaren Thumb Hospital, Consumers Energy's Educational Mobile Unit, USA Lions, Lions of Michigan Project KidSight, McGruff the Crime Dog, Huron County Sheriff's Office, and Joell Face Painting & More. Thanks to all of our volunteers and everyone who attended. Have a great summer!

Over the course of an engaging hour, Elkton Lions played bingo and Euchre with Rose Garden senior residents on Wednesday, May 20. Kurt Damrow and Devin Irion called bingos, utilizing an app to randomize numbers. At any table with a confirmed bingo, everyone there won prizes. These items ranged from new clothes to various hygiene products, such as hand soap and body wash. For residents who needed to remain seated, volunteers brought over their prizes. John Champagne even guided a lady in a wheelchair toward the prizes to pick from.

Thanks to the Elkton Lions Hunger Committee, Peggy Hellwig, and Deb Smith for donating prizes, as well as all of our volunteers. We appreciate the Rose Garden for allowing us to host game night. Between providing residents with companionship and gifts, we await the next opportunity to brighten their day.

The Youth Center team is back with ice cream again this week. Join us Friday, June 19th at the Huron Youth Center in Elkton! (Did we mention, kids are free thanks to Thumb Billies Auto Care and Mcbouvs Laundromat?!?!?)

The Youth Center team will be busy with ice cream tomorrow. They have had some generous donors offer to cover free $3 cones or bowls for kids too!!!

Come on out, the air conditioning will be on and there are plenty of tables and chairs for you to relax at.
