This time of year is our busiest and things are starting to pick up. Here's a little look at what we are up to.
->We adopted a 25-26 Senior and we cant wait to give them their gifts! We will share photos after we give them to him so we don't spoil the surprise.
->May 16th We will be set up at the Community Worship Night at the Millikan House. We will have face painting, small temporary tattoos, stickers, drinks. We will also be there to talk to people about what we do, answer questions and pray with people.
->June 6th We will be providing a meal at the Salvation Army. Tentatively the date is June 6th, but we are waiting to get a confirmation so this is subject to change. The plan is to purchase pizza, chips, cookies and drinks.
-> June 18th-27th St. Augustine ministry trip. We will be volunteering with food distribution, homeless outreach and feeding. We do street ministry around St. George St, hand out free waters, pray with people, and we have outreach Bibles on hand to give away. We also will be be taking items to the homeless coalition. What we have:
[ ] 10 sleeping bags
[ ] 12 bottles of insect repellent
[ ] 24 sunscreens
[ ] 12 solar phone charge banks
We will be purchasing 4-5 tents before we leave as well. BUT we could use your help! We want to take as much as we can so if you would like to donate anything we will be glad to take it with us. They also could use cleaning supplies. The Homeless Coalition is a wonderful program that also helps transition homeless families off the streets and helps them to become self sufficient. We only got to see a tiny bit last year but we were impressed!
July 18th Breaking Bread Ministries in Madisonville. We will be volunteering with their food outreach this day. We hope to make this a recurring thing for us.
July 16th-26th Claymour camp meeting. We wont be there as Street Crusaders, but Michael is on the board and I (Jess) grew up going so we try to go and support as many nights as we can. It never disappoints. Its an open air shed and this will be the 123rd year. It's amazing to sit in a place and know your not just surrounded by over a hundred years of prayer, but answered prayers.
This is just some of the bigger things we are doing. We normally set up several times around Peace Park in Hopkinsville to feed whoever happens to stop by, we've purchased hotel rooms, shoes, meals, given rides. A lot of our ministry happens unplanned. We see people on the side of the road, wake up and decide to go purchase donuts, or God reworks our plans and puts the right people in our path. Dakota also has represented us well this year on the WKU campus as he would stop and talk and even debate with people.
We have plans for street ministry in several different places this year to include Hopkinsville, Bowling Green, Russellville, Elkton and Clarksville and everywhere in between. So stay tuned...we will be adding more outreach events to our calendars soon! And if anyone would like to donate any items for the homeless coalition just let us know or we can get you their address and it can be shipped directly to them.
