๐ŸŒŸ Farewell and Gratitude: A Message from Melissa Tapp, Executive Director ๐ŸŒŸ

Dear United Way of Cecil County Community,

Today, I come to you with mixed emotions as I announce my departure from my role as Executive Director at United Way of Cecil County. This incredible journey has been one of both immense joy and profound growth, and I'm truly grateful for every moment we've shared.

Since 1973, United Way of Cecil County has been a steadfast beacon of hope and a catalyst for positive change in our beloved community. Our mission has been clear: to collaborate with local businesses, residents, and non-profit agencies to uncover not just quick fixes, but enduring solutions to the barriers that hinder our children, families, elderly, veterans, and homeless from living their best lives. Our vision has always been to see every individual in Cecil County thriving, reaching their full potential, and living their dreams.

This past year has been nothing short of extraordinary. I've had the privilege of meeting countless remarkable individuals, gaining deep insights into the issues that truly matter to the people of Cecil County, and rolling up my sleeves to actively participate in creating positive change in our communities.

United Way of Cecil County is not just about supporting our community; it's about being a game-changer. My time here has awakened me to the challenges that lie ahead for all of us. Your voice is not just important; it's crucial. Your time is not just valuable; it's irreplaceable. To see lasting change on the issues that matter most to you, it's vital to raise your voice, advocate for what's right, and shed light on critical matters. Your voice is your most potent weapon. Your donations matter โ€“ they can be a lifeline for the causes that touch your heart. Volunteer to be a part of the change you wish to see in your community; every small act adds up to a greater good. Be that game-changer in your community. We need each and every one of you.

As I bid farewell to my role at United Way of Cecil County, I want you all to know how deeply thankful I am to have been a part of something truly remarkable. In a world that's constantly evolving, our communities are changing too, and it's crucial that we change with them. I am grateful to have played a part in making a difference in the lives of the extraordinary people of Cecil County.

As I step into this new chapter, I encourage you to continue to support the causes that matter most to you. Give your funds, your time, your voice โ€“ they all have the power to shape a better future for Cecil County. Together, we can keep the flame of positive change burning bright.

Sincerely,

Melissa Tapp

๐ŸŽ‰ Exciting News! Mark your calendars for this Sunday, September 3rd, from 12-4pm for an event that's all about coming together and making a difference in our community! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿซ Join us at the 2nd annual Kids Cuts Event, hosted by United Way of Cecil County.

๐ŸŽˆ We've invited Local Vendors, Nonprofits and Businesses from all around Cecil County to set up tents/tables for FREE in Lower Ferry Park as part of our event to showcase the incredible resources and services that our community has to offer. Come discover ways to make life a little easier for everyone. ( message me today to mark your spot to set up a tent or table)

๐Ÿ›๏ธ We've asked Local businesses to send us some of their coolest swag to giveaway as game prizes for the kids, and to also show off what they bring to the table to support our community. It's a chance to connect and learn about the awesome things happening right in our own backyard.(we are still in need of swag/items for prizes)

๐Ÿ“š For the little ones, we've got free haircuts, free books, free school supplies and games that will be set up in Lower Ferry Park. Plus, a delicious lunch of hotdogs, chips, and drinks will keep them energized throughout the fun-filled day.

๐ŸŽฎ Games, laughter, and joy will be in the air as we come together as a community to support a great cause. And guess what? We're even raffling off two awesome Lego sets for $1 a ticket or $5 for 6 tickets to help us raise funds for United Way of Cecil County to be able to continue impacting Cecil County in the very best of ways. Every donation counts!

๐Ÿ™Œ This event wouldn't be possible without the support of some incredible Businesses and Nonprofits. A big shoutout to 5th Company Brewing, Double Tapp Entertainment DJ/Karaoke, SmithField Foods, Darkroot Technologies, Delaware Dreadnaughts, Cecil County Toys for Tots, Jerry Moran, Elkton VFW Post #8175, Freedom Hills Therapuetic Riding Program, Rolling Hills Ranch, and The Town of Perryville. ๐Ÿ™Œ Exciting News! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I am absolutely thrilled to share that over the past four months, United Way of Cecil County has made an incredible impact in our community. Through your generous support and contributions, we have donated a remarkable total of $138,321.68 worth of shoes, clothing, toiletries, and household items to our Cecil County Communities. This effort has been aimed at lightening the financial burdens on our local families, and the results have been truly heartwarming.

It's an indescribable feeling to know that together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those around us. In this spirit of giving, we kindly ask that if you have received donations from us, you consider paying it forward by blessing someone else in need if you find yourself with items you don't require.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to each person who has played a vital role in this endeavor. ๐ŸŒŸ First and foremost, I'd like to express my deep gratitude to Amazon for their invaluable contribution that has made this initiative possible. Your support has been a driving force behind our success.

I must also acknowledge the unwavering dedication of one of our best volunteers, Toby Tapp, who also happens to be my husband. Toby has been by my side through every donation pickup, many drop offs and deliveries. His unwavering support has been a pillar of strength throughout this journey.

Additionally, a special shoutout goes to Jerry Moran for his continuous support and generosity in allowing us to use his truck as a donation vehicle. Your contribution has been instrumental in enabling us to reach more families and individuals in need.

The impact of our collective efforts has been nothing short of astounding. Children, families, veterans, and elders in our local community have found assistance and solace through your generosity, and I am humbled by the positive change we've accomplished together.

Let's remember that this isn't the end; it's just the beginning. The journey of support and kindness continues, and I am excited to see the ripples of goodwill that we will create together.

From the depths of my heart, thank you. Your compassion, dedication, and willingness to make a difference are what make our community truly remarkable.

With profound gratitude,
