🐾 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Endless Pawsibilities Foundation
This week, we’re highlighting Endless Pawsibilities Foundation, a nonprofit animal rescue based in Elko and founded by Misty and Jon Eklund. At the heart of their mission is one simple goal: Give shelter animals facing euthanasia a second chance at life.
But their work reaches far beyond animal rescue. Endless Pawsibilities serves communities across rural Nevada, including Elko, Spring Creek, Carlin, Wells, Montello, Owyhee, Battle Mountain, Winnemucca, Lovelock, Crescent Valley, Eureka and Ely. Through their pet food pantry alone, they reach families across eight counties and two Native American reservations.
Some of the ways they support our region include:
🐶 Animal Rescue & Adoption
They rescue dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters, provide needed care and help them find loving homes. Adoptable animals can be found at their rescue facility, with some cats also available through their partnership with Petco.
🥫 Pet Food Pantry
Donated pet food is distributed to families experiencing financial hardship, seniors, veterans and underserved rural communities with one goal in mind: keep animals fed and families together.
❤️ Community Cares Program
When funding allows, the foundation helps families with veterinary expenses. Their long-term goal is to expand affordable veterinary resources throughout rural Nevada, including low-cost vaccinations, spay/neuter services and eventually a mobile veterinary clinic.
Veterans Program
Through a partnership with the Elko Veterans Corporation, adoption fees are covered for veterans adopting through the program.
👵 Visits With Local Seniors
The foundation works to bring a shelter dog to visit residents at the manor approximately once a week, providing companionship for residents and valuable socialization for the dogs.
🚐 Lifesaving Transportation
Thanks to a rescue van generously donated by their friend Roxy, animals can be transported from shelters to veterinary appointments, foster homes and adoption opportunities throughout rural Nevada.
Endless Pawsibilities also promotes responsible pet ownership, vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and education surrounding humane Trap-Neuter-Return programs for community cats.
How can you help?
There are plenty of ways to get involved — donate food or supplies, make a monetary donation, volunteer, foster, adopt, help with transportation, support fundraising events or simply share their adoptable animals on social media.
Their work is powered by dedicated volunteers, donors, businesses and community members who believe rural Nevada’s animals deserve a chance.
Eight counties. Two reservations. Countless lives worth saving.
