** Update on Elko's National Veterans Cemetery **
_______________________________________
Elko National Cemetery Construction Moves Forward
We anticipate the cemetery to open in Fall 2026.
• The main buildings are framed and work on the outside and roofs are moving along.
• Concrete has been poured for the Flag assembly area.
• The foundation work is underway for the columbarium and memorial wall.

Upcoming Construction Activities
In the next three months, we expect to complete the following:
• Install the ornamental fence around the perimeter of the cemetery;
• Construct sidewalks, curbs and gutters throughout the cemetery; and
• Construct crypt sections and columbarium.
We will also continue work on the framing, roofing, and internal plumbing of the Public Information Center.
Project Details
Elko National Cemetery spans 15.37 acres. It will accommodate casket burials, in-ground cremation burials, and urn placements in columbarium niches. The cemetery will be constructed in multiple phases. Each phase will provide 15 years of burial service.
Phase 1 will include 1,045 gravesites:
• Casketed gravesites: 364
• In-ground cremation burials: 213 gravesites
• Columbarium niches: 470 niches
Other project details: This phase of the project includes a committal shelter, restroom, a memorial wall, flagpoles, roads, and other infrastructure.
