Another 25lbs donated last week and Emely has another basket of goodies for FISH.

There would be more, but someone(s) keep taking produce (whole squash etc). So frustrating to the gardeners that are looking forward to coming with their produce who turn up to find it stolen the same day they were going to harvest it.The beeplant aka cleome is going off right now

Thanks to gardeners Emely and Natalie for their work harvesting and weeding in the food pantry bed, growing season 2026 is going well. (Closer to 100lbs if you count the produce that was taken)

In addition to the produce stolen from various beds (both private families' and the Fish food bank ones), we've noted whole dugup plants and that 20+ of our tomato cages have been reallocated. That's 20 cages we can't loan our gardeners who are just getting started.

We have filed a police report with Elko PD. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to file witness statements. Our report reference is T26000233

In addition to replacing the stolen items we'd like to put in an interim fence with "no trespassing" signs to clearly indicate to the person or people helping themselves to our property and sweated & sworn over produce that they need to buzz off. If you'd prefer to donate supplies- large tomato cages, t-posts, and sheep type fencing would be much appreciated. Otherwise we set up a fundraising page-https://gofund.me/a6eb11d45

We get that times are tough, that's why folks are growing their own food at the garden. All extra veggies are being taken to FISH when they haven't been stolen first.

If you aren't a gardener or an authorized volunteer, taking anything other than a photo will NOT be tolerated!

There is a wait list for next growing season if you would like to grow your own produce.

All the beds are tucked in for the night (that aren't cold hardy). Thanks to US National Weather Service Elko NV for the predictive services and keeping us informed.

Cover your crops gardeners!

A frost advisory is in effect from late this evening to Sunday morning as cold temperatures could be between 33 to 36 degrees. Frost conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. If you have animals, take steps and precautions to help from the cold.
