Have you been wondering about how to become involved with the Great Basin Elks Lodge #1472 in Elko? We have big plans for 2026!
To get involved with an Elks Lodge, you can either join as a member (requiring sponsorship, citizenship, belief in God, and being over 21) or volunteer your time and skills in community service, veteran support, youth programs, or lodge activities like events, fundraising, and bingo, even without joining, by contacting your local lodge to express interest and attend meetings or events.
Joining as a Member
Meet Requirements: Be a U.S. citizen, over 21, believe in God, and have good character.
Find a Sponsor: Get sponsored by an existing Elks member.
Apply: Fill out an application form (available from your sponsor or lodge) and pay the fees.
Interview: Meet with an investigating committee from the lodge.
Vote & Indoctrination: The lodge votes, and if approved, you'll be invited for indoctrination.
Volunteering Without Joining
Attend Lodge Events: Go to dinners, charity events, or social gatherings to meet members and see what they do.
Support Veterans: Help with programs like Welcome Home Kits or volunteer at VA centers.
Youth Programs: Assist with drug awareness initiatives or scholarship committees.
Lodge Activities: Volunteer for setup/cleanup, decorations, or special events.
Community Service: Participate in local cleanups or community celebrations.
Contact our Lodge: Reach out to your local lodge's secretary or visit our website to ask about volunteer opportunities.
Quick Actions
Visit Elks.org: Use the website to find your local lodge and fill out a membership inquiry form.
Talk to Members: Ask an Elk you know to introduce you or help you get started.
Elks Lodges bring so much more to their communities than just a building, golf course or pool. They are places where neighbors come together, families share meals, and children grow up.
