🚨FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE🚨
Elko New Market, MN
July 22, 2026
Elko Speedway and its ownership group are proud to announce that the 2026 edition of the Thunderstruck 93 will carry on and remain a legacy event for the track. After careful and thoughtful discussion between the ownership group, the Ryan family and A Race Worth Winning - ALS representatives, the decision has been made to push the event back to September 12. The Dwain Behrens Memorial Race will remain on August 15 as previously scheduled for the Limited Late Models, as it deserves its own recognition given its historical significance to the Elko Speedway community.
The decision to push the event back to September brings us back to the traditional timeline for the Thunderstruck 93 memorial event, but we also wanted to take it a step further. Dan Ryan was a firm supporter of local grassroots racing, and “all of the characters in it” that took their hard earned dollars to the track on a Saturday night. So, we have chosen to honor Dan’s legacy in the same manner. All of our local divisions will be subject to an increased pay structure for the September 12 event, which will include Bandoleros, Legend Cars, IMCA Old Timers, Powerstocks, Thundercars, the inaugural “Crown Vic Calamity” that was previously scheduled for the same date, and our headliner, a 93 lap main event for the Limited Late Models. The final decision to omit Super Late Models from the schedule was not without plenty of discussion, but we, and the Ryan family, feel highlighting our local drivers is truly what Dan would have wanted.
More details will be set to come in the following days, including pay structures for all classes and opportunities for the fans and our great partners at the speedway to get more involved in this memorial fundraiser benefitting Minnesotans with ALS. We couldn’t be more excited to be putting this event on ourselves, and to truly make the Thunderstruck 93 “A Race Worth Winning”.
