Today is the beginning of summer break, but here are the break weeks for next year!
School is always open with the exception of these full-week breaks. This gives us 210 instructional days! However, attendance isn't mandatory.

Students have been busy wrapping up projects!

One class read How to Train Your Dragon, then made dragon masks with designs from our MakerSpace.
Another class read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then designed, marketed, and made chocolate bars. They also played the Golden Ticket board game.
The oldest class is concluding their year-long study of the constitution with proposals for new amendments. They've also played a few memorable board games during their studies.

At Eyes and Brains STEM Center, we believe that children need more than instruction.

Students have time to explore and create. They solve problems with friends, they practice independence.

Free play helps students build the social, emotional, and creative skills they will use for the rest of their lives.

In anticipation of Law Day at the beginning of May, our students were invited to participate in the Law Day contest. Two of our students won awards for their essays on "The Rule of Law and the American Dream" and the school made a field trip out of the event.

The school was invited to participate in the annual Law Day competition, and was surprised to learn that 2 of our students placed with their essays! With the ceremony in the historical Supreme Court of Appeals, activities in the State Museum, and lunch on the grounds, everyone enjoyed the field trip!

At Eyes and Brains STEM Center, we believe students learn best when they can think, build, test, talk, read, play, and explore in many different ways.

STEM is not just about devices. It is about curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and learning how the world works.

Eyes and Brains was at Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA last weekend. Kids stopped by to build hand models and talk about how joints work.
