From Doing to Being

This year stretched us in ways we didn’t expect. We’ve been walking through grief and navigating the transition of our daughter starting college. We embraced larger roles at our church while working full-time jobs. In all of that, God had to slow us down. We had to learn to work on our being rather than forcing ourselves into constant doing.

We entered a season when we didn’t have the capacity to serve as our hearts desired. We had to accept that it was our turn to be poured into—our turn to rest, to heal, and to let God minister to us. We needed rest. And God met us in that quiet space.

Now, as we prepare for Christmas, it feels good to be back. Our hearts are full of gratitude—for renewed strength, for fresh grace, and for every sponsor and supporter who believed in our mission even while we stepped back. Thank you for investing in the 9th Annual Christmas Day Celebration. Your faithfulness helped us keep hope alive.

We’re cancelling today’s Day of Service in Center City due to the No Kings protest. Organizers expect 60,000-100,000 demonstrators, and the city is implementing major road closures from 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM around LOVE Park, Ben Franklin Parkway, and the Art Museum area. Our number one priority is making sure that all of our events are safe and accessible for participants and volunteers. The scale of the demonstration and associated traffic/access issues make it unsafe and impractical to proceed. DM us if you have any questions or concerns.

This past Saturday, we showed up with love, jerk chicken, and warm smiles—rain and all! 🌧🔥 Big shoutout to young Michael who crushed it at the drink station! 🧃👏 We served 64 of our neighbors, and the impact was real. Let’s keep this momentum going—love in action isn’t just a moment, it’s a movement. ❤️
