If you are lucky enough to have an amazing parent in your life, you know the impact that can have on you.

Mrs. Brockmann is an English Teacher at EAHS and she has been the advisor for NHS for many years. Her mom loved kids. She put her heart into raising six kids of her own and then chose to be a foster mom on top of that!
In honor of her mom’s passing, Mrs. Brockmann donated $100 to NHS’ One Herd Care Package Donation Drive. We made sure the money she donated went into items for our child kits to honor her memory. 💜💛

Mr. Malvitz is a PLTW and Math Teacher at EAHS while also helping coach golf, advising Skills USA, and more! His mom is a huge supporter of not only him and his work, but of her grandchildren who are involved in many of the opportunities our school has to offer! She generously showed up with bags of goodies to donate to NHS’ One Herd Care Package Donation Drive! We appreciate her kindness! 💜💛

We are so grateful for all of the parental figures - mothers, fathers, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, etc. - throughout our community who act as role models for our youth!

Their acts of kindness allowed us to perform our own act of kindness! 💜💛

This donation drive has helped our students to see that one good deed can often compound into more good deeds. And there is a lot of power in that!

NHS’ One Herd Care Package Donation Drive not only connected us to the community, but it also connected different student organizations across the middle and high school as well! 💜💛

Across the globe, Kiwanis International Programs such as Key Club and Builders Club help connect students to service learning experiences.
This means that while the Elkhorn Kiwanis Club has been activity completing community service projects themselves for over 100 years, this local chapter has also been working hand in hand with both EAHS Key Club and EAMS Builders Club.

These two EASD clubs do a TON of community service on their own, so we were honored that they choose to support NHS in our project! Between the two groups, they donated a combined $275!
We are so grateful for their support!

All funds that were donated went directly into purchasing items for our One Herd Care Packages.
Once we are done with our donor shout outs, will be posting a total monetary amount raised as well as a full list of all the items we purchased with the funds.

Congratulations to the FRESHMEN!!! 💜💛

Last week, EAHS students had the opportunity to participate in NHS’ One Herd Care Package Donation Drive by bringing in donations themselves. Every item and dollar we were able to raise here at the school allowed us to make a larger impact in the community at large!
We appreciate all of the students who brought in donations!

All we can say is THANK YOU!!!

Keep checking back throughout the week for information about what was in the One Herd Care Packages, how much money was raised and what it was spent on, where the care packages and extra items end up, and for more donor shout outs (we had so many people help us out that we haven’t gotten a chance to share their generosity with you yet!!)! 💜💛

Now for a few numbers…
- 30 students volunteered their time this morning
- 164 general care packages were filled
(we originally had 182, but we consolidated a few of the packages to make sure they had enough products in them - even so, not every care package had everything as we did run out of some items)
- 60 menstral product kits were filled
- 37 child kits were created for infants/toddlers that center on newborn to size six diapers
- 1 Herd made up of students, staff, parents, community members, and local businesses worked together to do something GOOD!

When NHS embarked on our One Herd Care Package Donation Drive, we didn’t know how many bags we’d be able to make. We simply knew that we wanted to make as many care packages as we could.

Enter Gabby from Alternative Storage…
Gabby showed up last week with 60 drawstring bags, 60 reusable water bottles, 60 lip balms, 60 emergency blankets, and 60 pairs of socks. 💜💛
These items are going to allow NHS to pack even more kits than we could have hoped for as we now have the essential bags and water bottles to hold the items in the packages.

Our organization is humbled and thankful for Gabby and Alternative Storage. Their donation is another example of the good that can be sparked when we work together!

We cannot wait to distribute the care packages throughout the community during Random Acts of Kindness Week!

NHS has four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Seeing our members demonstrate those pillars outside of school makes us incredibly proud!

Maddie is the president of the Elkhorn 4H Club. As a community service project, she had the members make these four adorable tie blankets! She is an amazing role model to all of the other members in this picture!

Dr. Hochstrasser from Elkhorn Family Dentistry generously put together 100 oral hygiene packs consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, and flossers for NHS' One Herd Care Package Donation Drive! 💜💛
We are amazed and deeply appreciative of Elkhorn Family Dentistry’s significant contribution as these packs will be key components of our care packages given that dental health contributes to overall health!

In other towns, saying you want to go someplace else for dinner just means you don’t like the first option that was provided.
In Elkhorn, saying you want to go to Someplace Else means you are heading to the town square to eat at a favorite local restaurant.

Someplace Else Restaurant regularly supports EASD organizations. From hosting fundraising dinners for sports like soccer and wrestling to their recent generous donation of $100 towards NHS’ One Herd Care Package Donation Drive, our community is blessed to have them in our herd! 💜💛
We are truly grateful for all of their continued contributions!

Nikki from Evergreen Golf Club dropped by yesterday with a bunch of donations for NHS' One Herd Care Package Donation Drive! 💜💛
We received everything from diapers to baby wipes to blankets to toiletries! Even if it is hard to tell in the picture, the bag is HUGE and it was overflowing with goods that we will be sending out into the community! We are truly grateful for Nikki's donation and know that we wouldn't be able to make nearly as much of a difference without businesses like Evergreen's assistance!

Evergreen also happens to be EAHS' home course for both the girls and boys golf teams.
This fall, the entire varsity girls golf team earned All-State Academic Honors! Many of these students are in NHS and we couldn't be prouder to give a shout out to Madison, Julia, Emilyn, Kylie, and Rhianna for their hard work!

All of the items donated by Evergreen Golf Club will be going into the care packages that will be distributed throughout the community during Random Acts of Kindness Week!
