Progress is moving forward each week at the Olde Towne City Hall and Jail in Elkhorn! Floors have been poured, a new roof is in place, and extensive brick tuck-pointing has brought new life to the structure. Just this week, the restored cupola was carefully lifted back into position—an exciting milestone!

It’s truly starting to look like a historic landmark once again. Step by step, our community is embracing a new chapter while honoring its past. Exciting days are ahead!

This Memorial Day weekend, we honor and remember PFC Terence Edward “Terry” Barney, a United States Marine Corps soldier who gave his life in service to our country during the Vietnam War.

Born on October 2, 1948, Terry was a proud son of Tex and Helen Barney, who lived near 168th & West Maple. He is remembered not only by his family, but by a grateful community that continues to honor his sacrifice.

Terry was killed in action on March 17, 1969, in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, at just 20 years old. His service and sacrifice are forever recognized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., where his name is etched on Panel 29W, Line 58.

Today, Terry rests at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn, close to the place he once called home.

Behind every name on the Wall is a story, a family, and a future cut short. Terry’s legacy is one of courage, duty, and selflessness.

We remember PFC Terence E. Barney. We honor his sacrifice. 🇺🇸

We now have these shirts available for purchase ($16) at the museum, which is open every Thursday from 1-4pm.
