Child hunger is rising in Elkhart County
According to the Indiana Youth Institute 2026 Kids Count Data Book, child food insecurity in Elkhart County increased from 10.6% to 16.9%.
That means more local children and families are struggling to consistently access enough nutritious food. This isnβt a problem happening somewhere else. Itβs happening here in our neighborhoods, schools, and communities.
This is exactly why Hunger Ends Here was created, food is available right here in our community, but families may not know where to turn or what resources exist.
If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, please visit our website for a list of available food resources across Elkhart County.
The Elkhart County Food Collaborative is a partnership of nonprofit organizations united by one mission: to ensure no one in our community goes hungry. By pooling resources, sharing ideas, and working side-by-side, weβre tackling food insecurity with the strength that comes from working together.
