First ever walleye release back in 1983. Ended up being a night release and paid in cash.

Some photo’s from the Walleye release.

We released 1500, 6”-9” walleye into Simonton Lake on October 6th. Driver tested the water to ensure the tank temperature was within 5 degrees of the lake temperature before releasing them. He had many live wells on the truck but our portion was 3 with 500 walleye in each that were released. Per the DNR; the amount of walleye that can be released, is based on the size of the Lake… so Simonton Lake should never have more than 3000 released at one time.

We had our first original President, Farmer Bob Hershberger and our current President, Bill Leighton, release the first few fish into the Lake. (With the help of many anxious, adorable kids that will be catching these walleye soon!!)

Thank you to everyone who helped make this walleye release possible and all the people that came by land and boat to watch the release.

Just got word … the new estimated time for the Walleye release is 1:15 today.

Sorry for the delay.

1500 Walleye will be released into Simonton Lake on Tuesday October 6th at the public boat launch between 11:30 and Noon.

All are welcome to join and watch the release.

We will get a call 30 minutes prior to the truck arriving as the fish are driven in from Wisconsin the day of and we will give a more accurate time on Tuesday!!
